Trump Celebrates And Brags That Prices Are About To Get Even Higher

What a lunatic.

"Despite the massive amount of money being made by the United States of America, Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, as a direct result of Tariffs being charged to other countries, the full benefit of the Tariffs has not yet been calculated in that many of the buyers of goods and products, in order to avoid paying the Tariffs in the short term, ‘STOCK UP’ by purchasing far more inventory than they can use,”

“That heavy inventory purchase is now, however, wearing thin, and soon Tariffs will be paid on everything they apply to, without avoidance, and the amounts payable to the USA will SKYROCKET, over and above the already historic levels of dollars received. These payments will be RECORD SETTING, and put our Nation on a new and unprecedented course.”

Bragging in the Christmas season about how your policies are going to cause prices to climb even higher isn't a winning political strategy. I guess Republicans are going to run on, we think things are too cheap, so we want you to pay even more for everything.

Trump canceled the GDP report. I wonder why?

..."a new and unprecedented course"...

Clever wordsmithing.  Does he think we just pull things off the shelf and into our grocery carts without noticing prices...before getting to the checkout?

We just had our women's group's bake sale at church last Sunday.  We shop and bake and bring in for the sale.  Proceeds support organizations feeding the needy, shelter for abused women and children, etc.  Previous years I always made dozens of containers of favorites which always sell out.  This year, as I shopped for ingredients, I think they could hear me gasp all over the store.  I simply could not buy as much as I needed to be able to bake as much, the prices being so much higher.  I'd have not noticed $.25 or so higher.  These were dollars higher!

For a couple of months Kevin was doing his "shopping" each month during the summer to see how prices had changed.  Wonder what those groceries would cost now.

I see it most at the grocery store and when dinning out. I am seeing roughly a 20% increase in dining out costs. One example would be the Texas Roadhouse where prices on their lunch specials climbed from $10.99 to $13.99 since January. (22% increase)

I eat at a lot of Mexican mom and pop's around here and all of them but one have now instituted a $1 - $2 beef surcharge if you select that option for your food. I love steak fajitas but I sure don't love paying $1 - $2 more every time I eat them.

And as we can see from Trump's Truth social post, he doesn't think prices have gone up enough.

I love the line many of the buyers of goods and services. I wonder it has dawned on MAGA that they are the buyers of goods services that will no longer be able to avoid the terrible Trump tariffs.

We were all surprised last night by how much it cost for dinner last night at Olive Garden for 3 of us.  Didn't get any alcohol and 1 appetizer, along with dinner and it was almost $100, before tax.

The "basket" I've checked has been pretty much constant, as I use the Walmart app and can save my purchases list.

The most recent time I've done the comparison was five days ago. The price of the basket, which I started in April at exactly $35, is now $46. Almost the exact same stuff.

That's far more than the reported inflation rate. Of course, overall inflation is an average, and many goods and commodities (like gas) have gotten cheaper.

My controlled experiment is showing a 31% increase since April. That's pretty much in line with what I've been hearing anecdotally and perceiving subjectively. It's not just a few percent. It's almost a third more.

People out there must really be hurting.

Does that idiot actually think that other countries pay the tariffs that the US charges importers?

The money "made" by the US is money stripped from US consumers. Taxes don't "make" money. I mean, Jesus, this is basic.

I can still afford food. Most of us still can. Nonetheless, I've cut back in some areas. There's stuff I no longer buy, because I can't justify the cost.

So that makes me think of all those people who were already skating close to the edge. Now, Mom is having to just plain not buy this, or buy less of that, or buy a lower quality version of those. It's stressful at the very least. Some people are going hungry.

The question I would ask now is: how many MAGA grocery shoppers are putting the blame for this where it belongs: on themselves?

Here's a link.
