Trump: Don't worry, and try not to die, unless you're a Democrat

We've all been desperately beseeching Trump to DO SOMETHING about the coronavirus threat. Turns out, we can all breathe easier. Trump appointed Mike Pence to the new position of Grand Kleagle of the Coronavirus Task Force! And Pence didn't let any grass grow under his hooves, uh, feet--no siree Bob. His first act as Grand Kleagle was to fly to Sarasota, Florida to make an appearance at a $25,000-a-plate Republican fundraising dinner. The attendees were exhorted to support Republican efforts to take back the House.

So we are all much safer now that Trump's cute little doggy is working on the problem.

Parenthetically, that many wealthy Republican donors in one room--where are those meteor strikes when you need them?

Seniors are at much higher risk of being offed by the virus.....and seniors are at much higher likelyhood of voting for Trump.

He might want to make sure the swing states have plenty of test kits in the old folks homes.    Those people being alive might be the difference in his re-election efforts.    I suspect that will motivate him more than  giving a shit about their health.

That's why he's cut off NYC from test kits--he's hoping a lot of liberals will die. However, he doesn't realize that New York won't go for him in November even if he does achieve his dream of half a million Democrat deaths.

He should cut off test kits to large cities in swing states. Democrats in those states are concentrated in urban areas. Wipe out the populations in those cities and the states will go solidly red.

I refer, of course, to Trump's sole goal and interest, which is to remain in power, even if it costs millions of lives.

DonDiego understands that New York as well as some other States were not denied test kits, but that some of the kits were defective. Stuff happens.

Imagine if one were totally dependent upon the Federal Government for medical care ! ! !

The federal government will never be a health care provider, but it is and will be a health care facilitator. I'm fine with that. Also, I don't believe the standard conservative nonsense that government is inherently incompetent and inefficient. In Trump's hands, yes, it is. But it doesn't have to be that way.

As as long as we're imagining...imagine if one had no health care at all, because the governor of the state in which one resides had decided to demonstrate his conservative ideological purity by blocking his constituents' access to health care. There are still 16 states where that is the case.

Or imagine if one functionally had no health care because one could not afford the premiums and the rent and the power bill. I would think that such a person would embrace that horrible, horrible, government-provided free socialist will-destroy-the-country health care.

I'm assuming you have rejected Medicare because you don't want to be "totally dependent upon the Federal Government for medical care!!!"

We have a number of folks on this board who rail and moan endlessly about all the "free shit" that the government provides and how our country is slowly sliding into the dark abyss of SOOOOOOCIALISM!! None of them acknowledge that they have been beneficiaries of hundreds of different government programs for the entirety of their lives. They think that just because the government doesn't directly cut them a check, they're not receiving government benefits. For instance, does the FDA send everyone a monthly check? No. But I'm damn sure there are thousands of people out there who are alive because of the FDA.

Also, one standard holy tenet of conservatism is "government is bad." That is also extended to "taxes are bad." So if you adhere to the conservative faith, you have to say that any government program paid for by taxes is inherently bad--and don't forget to whine about SOOOOOOOCIALISM! I can easily refute the fundamental conservative orthodoxy by pointing out that every (inhabited) place on earth that has little or no government is a miserable, deadly hellhole. But that would be---ugh---logic.

Another fundamental element of conservative orthodoxy is that "things were better in the good old days." For the current crop of conservatives, the pinnacle of American society was the days of Wally, Ward, June, and The Beav. That that era roughly coincides with the last time many conservative old white guys were able to get it up explains why it is seen as a golden age by so many of them. Plus, back then, them uppity darkies knew their place.

DonDiego, I hasten to add, is a more reasonable man by far than most of the conservative loonies who infest these forums.

1. Why did we have less than 1,000 test kits on hand when we had two months to prepare?

2.  Why are people still not being tested on CDC orders given that Trump said they sent out tens of thousands of new test kits on Friday?

3.  Why did the CDC scrub their website of the number that shows how many people have been tested?

We have a mentally ill individual serving as President who thinks the outbreak is a hoax and he is the only true victim of this pandemic.  Yes, we can’t trust the government because we can’t trust the conservatives in charge of the government to do their jobs. Their allegiance is to Trump, not the Constitution.

As I've said before, it's the deadly moronavirus that we really need to worry about. How many people will still be infected with it in November? Can we find a cure in time?

It would be best if the moronavirus had a 100% mortality rate, but so far, apparently, it only kills other people. Fortunately, we don't need test kits to tell who has it.

Until we find a cure, the only effective measure is quarantine, which we can implement by building an electified fence around the perimeters of Kentucky, Arkansas, Nebraska, etc. Much cheaper and far more useful than Da Wall.
