Trump Fails Again Only 6,563 Americans Tested As Of Today

Trump doesn't deserve blame for lack of testing IMO.   The problems that have occurred largely would have occurred under any regime on that front.

Respectfully, I  don't buy that. How was every other country ready to test or able to ramp up testing quickly? We are an outlier on testing.

Many on this site have argued that trump should be listening to medical professionals.  The standard policy from the medical profession is to not test people if they are asymptomatic.  That might not be the best call, but that's the most common medical suggestion from medical professionals as of today

Actually, the stated policy is to also test people who came in contact with people who are known to have been infected, whether the former are exhibiting symptoms or not. The trouble with Trump's tardy response is that the number of potential infected rose exponentially every day that known cases were not identified and isolated.

It's not just test kits that are the bottleneck--it's the availability of labs to process them. That's yet another reason the administration should have acted swiftly rather than Trump running around dithering, lying, misleading people, and attacking the Democrats. This would have been manageable if handled early---look to South Korea as a guide.

It would be nice to see the administration make it easy and COST-FREE to get tested. Many infected people won't go to the doctor because they can't afford it. It would also be nice to see the administration make it possible for people to stay home. The stupid payroll tax cut won't do diddly-fuck to help that.

When Kevin tells us what was and what not happening behind the scenes, then I may cast blame on Trump.  You and I don't know.  You're hatred eliminated your ability to think.

Jesus Christ, attacking me for disapproving of Trump or the things he does doesn't prove a goddamn thing. Maybe you're trying to make yourself feel better, because in your heart, you feel shame for supporting that asshole. You certainly should.

I know, you know, and everybody else knows that hundreds at least, and probably thousands of people will die because of Trump's selfishness and incompetence. Do you feel proud to support him? Are you happy about all those deaths? Do you want to continue to lick the balls of your orange hero, even though he's a mass murderer?

Says a lot about you.

Is there treatment yet?  Like when someone tests positive?

They are experimenting with HIV anti-virals.

Wait . . . wait!  I thought this virus was "contained," "just the flu,"

and "would pass."

He sounded like he was reading a script for a hostage video.

Yes. But it's still symptomatic treatment rather than antiviral therapy.

The good news is that with prompt hospitalization and treatment, this is like other severe respiratory infections--unless the patient has other compromising conditions, he should survive.

I'm reminded of cholera in the 19th century--no one knew how to cure the disease, but those who fought it successfully realized that it killed by dehydration, and simply giving the patient enough water was usually enough to ensure survival (assuming the patient was strong enough to survive a few days with essentially no nutrition).

So we just need to expand critical care facilities' ability to accomodate patients with severe respiratory infections. That would probably take government funding, so I hope those with their hands on the purse strings are feeling responsible.

Once again the facts are that this was a new strain of virus that needed a new test creation. The CDC created that test with a bad chemical that provided incuclusive results. They discovered it, reformulated it and have since ramped up production. Trump didn't delay the manufacturing, the CDC had the money to not only make the original kits but the remanufactured kits. How anyone can blame a manufacturing error on Trump is beyond me.
