Temporary, and if you follow what's going on in shipping you'd know there is a tsunami of goods on its way to arrive in a month.
So you don't think people can wait a couple of months to buy a new TV? I was just at Costco, massive deals on screens the size of a VW. No tariff shock there.
I think it's pretty obvious that the CEO of some company or companies stuffed a few million into Trump's pocket to persuade him to put that 90-day pause on tariffs so they could scoop up a bunch of Chinese goods and make a killing. Trump does NOTHING that doesn't provide him with immediate personal gain. So there was one of his crooked "deals" in play.
But what the fuck makes you think the tariff shock will be temporary? The price of all imported goods will skyrocket. It has to--importers can't simply absorb those taxes, as the idiot Turd said Walmart should do. They'll be passed on to consumers. And since about 70% of everything we buy is imported or uses imported components or requires imported goods or energy to be manufactured--the price of more than 2/3 of what we buy is going to increase by 15 or 20 or 800 percent, depending on what number Trump pulls out of his ass.
Mark and I have both explained to you that the full effect of Trumpiffs won't hit until Memorial Day, when inventories have always hit a low point and merchants restock for the summer. Only this time, your $800 TV will cost $960, and Trump and Elon will split the extra $160.
