Trump immunity case: Supreme Court rules ex-presidents have substantial protection from prosecution

The issue before the Supreme Court stemmed from Special Counsel Jack Smith's election interference case against former President Trump -  The Supreme Court ruled Monday in Trump v. United States that a former president has substantial immunity from prosecution for official acts committed while in office, but not for unofficial acts. In a 6-3 decision, the Court sent the matter back down to a lower court, as the justices did not apply the ruling to whether or not former President Trump is immune from prosecution regarding actions related to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.--https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-immunity-case-supreme-court-rules-ex-presidents-substantial-protection-prosecution

You know it is good when msnbc has a fit.

Another lawfare case down the drain

The fact he says he needs immunity is an admission he committed a crime.      And you are celebrating that?

And its awesome that three of the judges he appointed to their job got to weigh in on the decision....and another judge whose wife was actively involved in the Jan 6 effort .... and another judge who had an upside down flag outside his house during Trump's effort to overthrow democracy.    Nothing to see there.

Kinda makes Tom's complaints about the NY Judge in Trumps felony trial seem really petty by comparison, dont ya think?"

Just like when he says he plans to pardon himself. For a pardon, there has to be an admission of guilt. So Trump is admitting that he's a criminal.

So, stupid Tom, you really want the President to be above the law--just because he might be the orange turd whom you worship?

Idiot.

Cool Biden can have the FBI pick-up Trump, take him to the gravel pit and treat him like Kristi Nome's puppy without fear of any consequences.

If I understand this correctly, Trump and all presidents have immunity from presidential executive decisions.  A president can't be sued for going to war, for example.  Presidents do not have unlimited immunity, however.  They can't murder someone and be off the hook.  That's a good and reasonable thing.

To be clear, past and current presidents are liable for actions taken before, during, and after their years in office.  For example, using 17 shell companies to launder money accumulated via a president and a son's illegals efforts to successfully sell goverment favors.

You guys will say that this is old news, but you said the same thing about Hunter Biden.  17 shell companies ain't there for nothing.

I guess MAGA is celebrating this as a win for them because they expect Trump to be President for the rest of his life?  Will Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, or Barron then succeed him? Will they change from MAGA to MAAM (Make America A Monarchy)? There are so many questions, and I hope MAGA has the answers.

The good news is if MAGA gets Trump installed for life, he won't need his people to work with foreign governments to help win an election, so that's nice.
