Trump Is Going To Force Schools To Open

How many people is this guy going to kill?  He says he will strip Federal funding from school districts that don't open even in areas where the virus is raging out of control now.

He is throwing the CDC guidelines out the window for reopening schools. Dr. Trump has decided they are too restrictive and impractical.

Forcing? Did he sign an executive order?  Just like when he stated the economy needed to reopen, you liars misquoted what he said then and then claimed that the "sky was falling" with your lying predictions. Of course, this latest lie goes right along with you posting of the lie about the Taliban bounties. Have you ever tried posting the truth?

Withholding funding is forcing. If you want a more precise term it is called coercion.

The sky is falling in Flordia, Texas and Arizona right now.

Federal funding for schools is approx. 10%, the other funding, 90%, is funded by the states. Bringing "pressure" is not the same as "with holding" funds. I find it typical and amusing that what the President tries to do here in the U.S. is always compared to other nations. Currently ---"In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS" - but, because the President states the need for school reopenings here in the U.S. , there are no comments about what is being done elsewhere in the world.--- I just stepped outside here in Texas, nothing is falling from the sky here - must be another lie by CNN or the Washington Post or some other lying liberal source - which just happen to be Mark's "up to date" sources.

Yes, and most of that funding is for COVID-19 prevention.

Trump's 8:16 AM tweet this morning so we can be precise.

In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Dems think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!

Trumps 8:33 AM tweet this morning for even more precision.

I disagree with @CDCgov on their very tough & expensive guidelines for opening schools. While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!

Later in the day, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos explained how team Trump expects this to work.
“Ultimately, it’s not a matter of if schools need to open, it’s a matter of how,” DeVos said during a conference call with the nation’s governors. “School[s] must reopen, they must be fully operational.” Partial reopenings that combined in-person classes with online learning were unacceptable, she said.

Nothing less than sending the kids to school five days a week for in-classroom instruction will appease Trump. Schools are a lot like bars as there is no social distancing, people(kids) run around screaming and people are constantly touching each other.

It is reprehensible and disgusting that David supports Trump in his reckless ideas that will kill thousands of schoolchildren, if implemented.

Being a Trumper stooge is one thing--advocating the deaths of schoolchildren is another. David should be ashamed of himself.

Both of you are ignoring all that was said - you only pick and choose snippets of the total dialogue - just like you did when the President said the economy needed to open up. No one is advocating the deaths of school children - typical muckraking by Kevin.

'' No one is advocating the deaths of school children''

trump is, if he forces the schools to be open before they're ready, dummy.

Thanks for playing, Davee-boi.

wtf???

Trump has explicitly threatened to cut off school funding if the schools don't open.

You can call Trump supporters many things, but after this please do not call them "conservatives." When the big powerful federal government can tell state and local school administrators what to do, that is about the least conservative position I can think of.
