Tom cites an opinion piece written by Sally Pipes who is funded by an anti-government conservative think tank. Some of the books she has written include The Truth About ObamaCare, The Pipes Plan: The Top Ten Ways to Dismantle and Replace Obamacare and The Cure for Obamacare. I don't find her opinions on healthcare very credible because of her bias. If your income comes from an anti-government based healthcare think tank, you aren't going to write opinion pieces telling people how good these systems are compared to ours.
This is the second time I can recall Tom citing the extremely biased Sally Pipes on healthcare issues.
The secret box is back! I thought it was gone for good. I thought the GOP base finally got wise after Republicans revealed the empty box in 2017. But here we go again.....
Republicans will show you their super-double-secret replacement for Obamacare after the next election
They have one. Really. Yeah, I know the old box was empty but nevermind that. The real replacement is in this new box over here....behind curtain number 3. But they cant show it to you now. You have to wait until after the election. But its awesome! Really, Its super awesome and way better than Obamacare. You'll see !
She cites a study from the independent Royal College of Surgeons. Can PJ disprove any of the stats in the study?

Tom, it doesn't matter who she cites. She cherry picks things that support her pre-determined position. If there were nine studies that showed wait times weren't any different than in the U.S. and one study that showed they were, you can bet she cited the outlier. Why? Because her income is dependant on making nonprofit taking healthcare look bad. If someone paid me 250k a year to write pieces on how wonderful Trumpcare is, I'd become a convert.
As usual when Mark & PJ are presented stats they don't like, they say they don't count
Give Tom some credit - he actually had the courage to show you where he got his information from. Good for you, Tom.
Lets entertain its credibility. The UK can double the taxes they currently charge for their "collapsing" healthcare system and it would still be cheaper than our system (see the graph from my previous post)....
But dont worry - Republicans have the secret box which is even cheaper still !
"The UK can double the taxes they currently charge for their "collapsing" healthcare system"
Current income tax rates in England are 20/40/45% & the value added tax is 18%. So PJ wants to double it to 40/80/90% & with what little money they have left they can then pay a 36% value added tax.
Good point, Tom - because all of the taxes collected in UK go exclusively to healthcare and nothing else, right? I love it when you try to be purposefully obtuse.
- UK is 4.5k per person.
- Tom's self confessed healthcare plan is 13K plus 3K deductible + out of pocket expenses.
Who has the courage to do the math?
Well PJ, as shown by my post, you get what you pay for
