Trump Launches Trade War

For all you folks that said it was just a negotiation tactic, I hope you realize how dumb you are.

Enjoy your double digit inflation rates.

Oh, if Canada cuts off your electricity, the White House wants you to know it is ok because Jesus didn't have electricity.

At this point it doesnt matter if its a negotiating tactic or not.    As it turns out Canadians have alot of pride and dont like being shit on.   Trudeau is telling his citizens to boycott made in USA products and skip USA vacations.     That will linger even if the tarriffs are eventually lifted.

Farmers and distillers will probably be the biggest victims.

And for what reason?

Just Trulydumb is hated by Canadians - they know what the deal is and realize that Trulydumb and his administration are the reason for the tarriffs. He wil be replaced after the March 24th elections and the new Prime Minister will align himself with President Trump. For what reason you ask? Are you obtuse? President Trump has stated the reasons - the fentynal and illegals coming to America across the border from Canada are the reasons.

Trump and Trudeau (who won't be around much longer) were in a similar pissing contest in Trump's first term, though the dings were not as severe. After a year's time, they both came to their senses and ended their initial 'trade war'; they apparently concluded that the beneficial co-relationship was just too valuable that initial go-round. There is a current recent trade deficit ( in favor of Canada in terms of monetary value).. that Trump is trying to leverage along with the immigration / drug stance. We'll see how much bark and bite and for how long.

There is suppossed to be a trade deficit with Canada.   Their population is less than 10% of ours.   If the expectation is their consumers will be buying as much of our stuff as we do of their's then the per capita trade balance would be ridiculous against them.

And if fentanyl is the big concern- since when is Canada the big cause of that?   China plays a much bigger roll.  Their tarriffs are 10%.  Canada is 25%.    I've noticed Trump talks big with China but his actions seem to have bigger impacts with our allies compared to our adversaries.      Elon Probably doesnt want his factory in China shut down.

It's all Shock and Awe..until it isn't.

Citing the flow of illicit drugs across the northern border, Trump signed an order Saturday to implement a 25% tariff on goods entering the United States from Canada. The order, which takes effect Tuesday, also puts a 10% duty on energy or energy resources from Canada. The order states, "gang members, smugglers, human traffickers, and illicit drugs of all kinds have poured across our borders and into our communities," adding that "Canada has played a central role in these challenges, including by failing to devote sufficient attention and resources or meaningfully coordinate with United States law enforcement partners to effectively stem the tide of illicit drugs."

This has nothing to do with drugs at the northern border. This about Trump's bizarre obsession with making Canada the 51st state. Enjoy paying more for everything David.

Hmmmm, so this is a thing.

"Historic tarriffs?"     thats big.    Does anyone remember what the "Historic Tarriff" was leading up to the Boston Tea Party?  Or more importantly how thats the least bit relevant to our current trade policy with the UK?

The sad news is everything on Aaron's social media propoganda will be true starting this week.

Canada is responding to our tarriffs with their own.

Take a look at that list.    Thats what our farmers and livestock producers will be facing in the very near future.
