Trump lie re SNAP (of course)

Why should the republicans scramble to fund snap just because the dems shut down the government ?  And i can not beleive Kevin would campare the democrate party to Hitler,

Or the democrats could have voted for the same CR that they voted for when sleepy joe was president but they would rather inflict pain on people.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s turn in the dunk tank when he weighed in on the shutdown with his now infamous remark that “Every day gets better for us.”

House Minority Whip Katherine Clark, who apparently slipped up by saying the Democrats’ quiet strategy out loud. “I mean, shutdowns are terrible and of course there will be, you know, families that are going to suffer. We take that responsibility very seriously. But it is one of the few leverage times we have,” she said in a mid-October interview

Why do you believe that if you've voted for something in the past you should always vote for it in the future?

To feed hungry children, that's what Inigo(aka Aaron), seemed to be considered about.

The only thing that changed was who is president.& the democrats seemed to have no problems with punishing Americans.

They were trying to save the Healthcare credits, because they believe they're important. Trump doesn't, that's what is different.

Trump could have easily provided funding for Snap, two federal judges ordered him to, and he took it to the Supreme Court to not fund it.

Folks - SNAP was funded regardless of the shutdown status.

Trump tried to stop the payments anyway.  He had to be overturned by a judge.    But make no mistake, he unilaterally, directly tried to stop the funding.

So go ahead and point fingers about the government shutdown.   Thats open to opinion.   SNAP funding is not.  That one is factually on Trump whilst he is hosting Gatsby-esque parties at MarALago

They were trying to save the Healthcare credits

According to the law the democrats passed it was scheduled to expire at the end of the year.  The credits were put in during covid and covid has been over for several years.  obamacare was supposed to reduce premiums, but that hasn't happened.

Time for a new plan.

Trump tried to stop the payments anyway.

The military and air controllers/TSA were working without pay but the democrats voted against paying them..  The DA only had $5B and the monthly payments were $10B

He had to be overturned by a judge

An obama judge (no suprise there).  The SC stopped it.

Ooo - the little green men strike again.  Judges dont count unless they were appointed by Trump.   Thanks for the reminder, Tom!

There was a law passed by Congress that specifically set aside funding for SNAP in case of a government shutdown.   The situation we are in now is exactly why the law was passed.   its not written in some vague, generic way that makes it open to interpretation .   It specifically references the SNAP program in the context of a government shutdown.    Tom can feel free to expalin what possible rationale exists for disobeying that law (I promise you he wont.)   Trump could not either.

Trump wanted people to starve so he could blame Democrats.   That was his motivation.  He didnt have to challenge the law in court.    He voluntarilly chose to.   His choice.   His decision.    He could have just followed the law and funded SNAP.   He chose to try and starve people.   Luckily the courts made him follow the law.

We know that stupid Tom is an idiot, but his continuing approval of Trump's starvation plan shows him to be a loathsome human being as well.
