Trump says he will issue executive order to charge Canada, Mexico 25% tariff on goods upon taking office

The tariffs ONLY go into effect if these countries close their borders and stop the flow of drugs into the US.  Not a difficult task.

Closed borders would crush the economies of all three countries.

Stupid Tom.

Tom,

Nope. There is no trigger. The tarrifs are getting passed on day one according to Trump. The drugs are just an excuse. There is no significant flow of illegal drugs from Canada. In fact everything I have read says it is the other way around with a lot of hard drugs passing through the US on their way to Canada. Shouldn't Canada be putting a tarrif on us using Trump's logic?

As to Mexico, it is a two way street? Illegal drugs flow into the US and illegal guns flow into Mexico that are used in gang warfare. What is the United States going to do to stop the flow of illegal guns into Mexico?

You realize Trump is breaking his own trade agreement that he negotiated with Mexico and Canada when he was President before? If Trump won't honor his own agreement, why should any country bother negotiating trade terms with him?

It is going to be real fun 😁 . All these folks that voted for Trump because he promised lower prices are going to be met with 25% higher prices immediately.

Looks pretty clear to me

The head of the RCMP unit responsible for fighting organized crime says Canada is not just a significant producer of fentanyl — we also export it. Organized crime groups in Canada are using precursor chemicals to produce the deadly drug for both the domestic market and for sales abroad, Mathieu Bertrand said in an interview with CBC's The House airing Saturday. "Sadly, Canada is a producing country of fentanyl and synthetic opioids. Not only are we a producing country, we're an exporting country," Bertrand told host Catherine Cullen.

1.  That's not a trigger. The gun has already been fired if the tarrifs are in place on day one.

It sets up a demand that Canada and Mexcio solve all of our drug problems to make the tarrifs go away.  Since that isn't possible, the tarrifs will never go away. By the way, that is a feature not a bug.

2. Border crossing right now are lower than they were when Biden took office.

3. Yes, some drugs cross the northern border into the US but collectively more drugs pass into Canada from the US.

According to stupid Tom, we're being "INVADED," because his orange master said so on "Turth Social."

Choking off trade with Canada and Mexico would cost many more lives than fentanyl does. Oh, and stupid Tom is ignorant of the fact that drug overdose deaths in the US are declining. So we don't have to wreck North America's economy to try to stop that.

Canada and Mexico have 2 months to put a program into place.  If they put a program into place no tariffs.

Reducing the flow doesn't solve the problem, but it is another arrow to help with it.the problem

The biden gang allowed 10m+ into the country & only started to put in restrictions due to the elections.  Nothing to brag about.

Canada admits they are a major exporter of drugs

One Canadian official said that his country is an exporter (NOT a major exporter) of drugs. That sounds good to stupid Tom, so he takes it as gospel truth.

Stupid Tom was complaining about one million ILLEGULS. Now, it's up to 10 million. Next week, it'll be 100 million.

Stupid Tom actually thinks stupid Trump's plan is a good one.

Stupid Tom.

After the announcement both leaders were on the phone with Trump.  Mexico said they would start turning away the caravans.

These liberal clowns don't understand business or the art of the deal.  Trump is already negotiating and winning without even having the power of the executive branch.  I doubt we'll see many tariffs as the other parties will willingly make a deal.

Fun fact - the overwhelming majority of Fentanyl comes across the border on US Citizen drug mules - not the Venezuelian lady carrying her baby across the Rio Grande.

So good luck with that "deal" with Mexico.
