The Trump Tax numbers are starting to come into focus

Oh you mean the laws and regulations that Biden was able to pass in several bills that worked their way through the House and Senate? That set timelines that bussineses could plan for? Then the BBB legislation gutted it and the companies had to pivot.

Gotcha!

I was commenting on tariffs by tweet causing an additional unexpected tax bill of $1 billion that Ford has to pay now.

Without the govt mandates there was no demand for the vehicles.

Gotcha

The biden gang and Ca ev mandates caused this problem.  Now that the tax credits and mandates are going away, the auto manufacturers are stuck with the cars and the factories.

Stupid little Tommy, you're confused. "The Biden gang" didn't create these illegal tariffs. The orange asshole whose boots you lick did.

Stupid little Tommy.

"No demand." So nobody bought any. Riiiiight

Just another Tom-lie.

If there was demand Ford wouldn't be shutting down EV factories

If there was "no demand" as you so stupidly claim, they wouldn't sell ANY, you fucking idiot.

Anyway, whatever stupid little Tommy babbles has nothing to do with Turdiffs. That illegal tax money is going right into Trump's pockets. He's bleeding American business dry --and he told MAGA that he was going to bring in a bigly golden age. Stupid Tom bought it. And he continues to believe it.

Ultimately, Turdiffs will force American manufacturers to raise prices--destroying any competitive advantage they may have had.

They are shutting down the EV production because they made a major miscalculation as to who EV buyers are and produced mainly high end vehicles that were marketed as performance vehicles rather than efficient vehicles.

The market isn't real big for 80k+ EVs. The market is huge for EVs at 20k or less. That is why BYD leads the world in EV sales. American car companies for the most part are not interested in producing low cost EVs.

Most of their profits are driven by full size truck and SUV sales as they have huge margins on those.  They no longer have the ability to produce 300,000 low cost vehicles a year nor do they want to.

If you haven't noticed the big three no longer sell petro powered cars that aren't performance or luxury vehicles and there are very few of those. The bottom line is building affordable regular gas powered cars using their current high margin business model isnt feasible either.

You could go a long way in solving the affordability crisis by allowing those sub 20k EVs into the US and you would see incredible demand at that price point.

Hell, China is making a basic EV sedan that costs $1500. But because Trump has a hard-on for China, we can't buy them.

Once again, the Law of Competitive Advantage comes into play--as it always does. There has ALWAYS been demand in the US for cheap, reliable, basic transportation vehicles. But we can't make them. Instead, we made the Ford Pinto, etc. etc. And that demand was satisfied by the VW Beetle, the Honda Civic, and the Toyota Corolla. The Big Three didn't want to compete in that market segment.

So the Law in fact says that we shouldn't try. Grow soybeans, which we do really, really well. Trade them for cheap, reliable cars, which the Chinese build really, really well. Everybody wins!

The above concept is utterly beyond the comprehension of the Turd and the jerkwads who worship him.

Stumbled across this article last night, pretty good timing for this conversation. I thought you would find it interesting and you would welcome the opportunity to get some insight into Ford and their EV decisions.

Ford unveils new details on its cheaper EV platform. First up, a midsize pickup. | Yahoo Finance

"The big problem for Ford and other non-Tesla automakers was that customer demand was nowhere near the excitement levels projected by the industry, and the costs associated with the program were massive, to the tune of $19.5 billion in write-offs for Ford.

As a result, Ford pivoted its EV plans, but it's not giving up. The company's focus is on a new universal electric vehicle (UEV) platform built from the ground up with a "skunkworks" team in California. The first product will be a midsize EV pickup costing around $30,000, targeting profitability from the start."

"The question is do Americans want a compact EV pickup? While the Ford Maverick has sold well and is Ford's top-selling hybrid vehicle, the EV factor is a whole different equation."
