Not sure, but I bet most constitutions allow for some sort of emergency executive power, marshal law, whatever.  That's exactly what Adolph Hitler did, people don't realize that his dictatorship was pretty much consistent with German law at the time; he declared emergency powers after the burning of the Reichstag, and took things from there.

Yeah, it's cliche, but those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Yes, almost all nations that have a chief executive have some sort of emergency clause written into their national laws. In our case, executive powers were strengthened with additional Acts much later.

But that isn't the cause for alarm. The real issue is the recent SCOTUS decision. It's one thing to say, "Do whatever you want"; it's another to say "And there will be no consequences afterward." Can you imagine the Turd resisting the temptation?
