Cjen, I never answered your question about Chevron Phillips Chemical. During my years with Ashland, we produced aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents. However, we did not produce heptane and hexane. We bought 26,000 gallon rail cars of both Phillips products at most of our distribution centers. These cars came from Bartlesville, as you likely know. During my years at Union Chemical we were the largest producer of the aliphatics, and a minor producer on the aromatics. We produced heptane and hexane and competed with Phillips, although Phillips had multiple grades of hexane (higher normal hexane content) and we had a single less pure grade. This was all prior to the Chevon/Phillps Chemical merger as my years with Union and Ashland ended in 1999. Since then I've spending my time calling on the same industries (Coating/Paint, Ink, Adhesive, Plastics, Elastomers), but on the specialty chemical side. Acrylic and modified acrylic resins, epoxy resins and hardiners, MDI isocyanates polyurethanes, colored pigments, TiO2, light stabilizers, light absorbers, antioxidants, dispersants, defoamers, surfactants and wetters, slip aids, and the list goes on.
