The Trumpenfuhrer Says He Is Going To Close The Border

Yes, indeed, those darn Canadians are beating down our borders.  Except they ain't.  And hundreds are coming in every day on the Carolina coast.  Except they ain't either.

The cost of a government shutdown is estimated at 6.5 billion/week in economic activity.    Both sides have tried to use it as leverage in the past.  It has never worked.   And it won’t work now.   But it might make some mouth breathers happy...which is why we are where we are. 

As for for shutting down the border altogether.....welll that’s an overnight recession when you consider the supply chain of manufacturing that goes back and fourth.    Even Donny Bankrupt wouldn’t dare follow through ...

As for  my opinion on the wall....go ahead and build it.   But since Mexico is not going to pay for it we should...with real money (not bullshit accounting gimmicks).   Raise your hand if you want to chip in $100 to build the wall.    There’s a goFundMe page for people with their hand up.  Mine is down.

Has P.J. come to his senses? Amazing!  Of course he is too cheap to donate for the needed wall. And I do believe this shutdown is working, even though Pelosi is in Hawaii taking a vacation while the shutdown continues - just another example of a Democrat leader doing what they do.

Perhaps, you should reread what PJ said. I think he was saying those who want a wall should self-fund it through donations. 

Anyway, as Lindsey Graham said today, a wall isn't even a wall, it is simply a metaphor. This on the heels of General Kelly saying it isn't really a wall but simply a sporadic barrier. 

It looks to me like Trump is going to continue to define downward what is a wall is in hopes he can sell it to his ignorant base that he is getting a wall when in reality he isn't even going to get a beaded curtain.

Of course, that isn't stopping Trump from continuing to stiff those that protector or border.  Simply not paying them for a few weeks or months wasn't enough though as he decided to terminate there scheduled 3% pay raise and cost of living adjustment. Trump claims he can't afford to give them a 3% raise yet he believes we have 5 billion dollars for a wall.  That seems kind of intellectually inconsistent to me. 

I read and correctly understood what PJ said. President Trump is doing what all of his lying predecessors said was necessary but did not have the guts to do.

There is no bigger lie than the one about Mexico paying for the wall.   And now since that lie has been revealed Donny know-nothing is trying to use a government shutdown as a hostage to get it thrown onto the country's credit card.     It will not (and should not) be allowed to happen in this context.

Its also worth noting that Donny know-nothing has been remarkably listening to people who know something lately.    His position about money for "the wall" has subtly changed into money for "border security".      The wall is not going to happen because the experts who have spent their life watching the border say there are much more effective ways to monitor and enforce security at the border.

Here's a quick lesson for the flat-earth segment of the Republican party:   Its alot easier to circumvent a wall than it is to circumvent a satelite. 

Here's a quick lesson for the drug war segment of the Republican party:  Alot more contriband comes into the country via unchecked containers at the border than refugees carrying their kids accross the Yuma, AZ desert.  

In summary, "Border security" is not synonymous with "the wall".    Dumb Donny is being eductated about this, hence his change in rhetoric.   Now we need his know-nothing base to learn too.

The wall has worked in israel. 

It covers a much smaller geographic area and it has overwatch. Trump's purposed wall has no overwatch making it easy to tunnel under, climb over or go through. If Tom wants to pay for staffing of such a wall perhaps he should start a Go Fund Me like the other guy.  I note Israel keeps theirs staffed because all citizens there are required to spend two years in the military. Guys like Donny fake bone spurs wouldn't do well there.

I'll point out, for the third time to Don Diego, that Godwin himself says Godwin's law doesn't apply when someone acts like a Nazi. Putting kids in cages, closing the border, calling the free press the enemy of the people, scapegoating an entire race of people and demanding Federal law enforcement "lock up" and investigate his political opponents while demanding they ignore evidence of crimes he committed are the actions of a Nazi-like totalitarian leader. For the good of the nation, I wish Trump would quit acting like a Nazi.
