We all know that Trump only cares about one thing---his reelection. He could not care less about the suffering and death caused by the coronavirus. He has calibrated his every response--albeit in senile, disjointed fashion---towards that single goal.
Recently, Moscow Mitch and Trump have presented a united front against the second coronavirus relief package recently passed by the House. Mitch says he'll force all his subservient lackeys to vote against it, and Trump says he'll veto it if it gets that far.
Recently leaked info from the White House suggests that Trump intends to block all additional coronavirus aid until a week or so before the election, and then, like Immortan Joe briefly opening up the water gates, he'll let the aid go through, with every check signed "THE WISE AND GODLY PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP." And the theory is, the grateful, adoring populace will then elect him in a landslide.
Except Mitch is waffling! Many of the vulnerable Republican senators (those up for reelection this year--20, I believe) have told him that they think it would be political suicide to vote against the bill.
So what will most likely happen is that after a lot of hemming and hawing, the bill will pass the Senate. The House Democrats stuck a bunch of extraneous stuff in there, the sole purpose of which is to serve as a bargaining chip. The Republicans will act indignant, the Democrats will concede gracefully on the extras, and the bill will pass.
.
Then Trump will be faced with the delicious choice of either signing the bill and allowing money to flow to everyone he hates (Americans) or vetoing it and watching his approval rating drop below that of Benito Mussolini.
This should be fun to watch! All the Republican snakes will be squirming.
