Trump’s latest illegal narcissistic project

I have been hearing that the elimination of paper money is just around the corner for nearly 30 years.

With a little luck I will keep hearing it until I am dead and future generations will hear it too.

Hopefully it doesn't happen because it would be disastrous to the economy and to individual freedom. Hopefully whoever has been fighting against it continues to do so and it never is implemented.

Actually, there would be immense practical and financial savings. Currency doesn't confer or signify "freedom." It's merely a medium of exchange. In fact, if you consider the ability to buy and sell, to trade, to access as many customers or providers, as many markets as possible, as a core aspect of freedom...electronic media of exchange enhance that freedom.

The economic and practical costs of handling, counting, sorting, storing, guarding, and physically exchanging currency are staggering. And it certainly is unsafe to be handling large amounts of currency.

I personally vastly prefer to pay for something with a debit card rather than have to obtain the needed cash. And I don't feel that diminishes my freedom.

Paper money will be over sooner than you expect.  I'm guessing this $250 bill story is just to distract the liberals and get their panties all wadded up and soaking wet.

Nah, it is to distract you MAGAs from realizing the GOP just snuck into their defense re-authorization bill a complete integration between Israel's defense industry in our defense industry. We will forevermore be Israel's bitch.

I love the convenience of cards (although for several reasons I rarely use debit cards I usually use credit cards) and electronic payments and use them frequently.

I also like having the option of physical cash and I don't want that going away. Not all transactions need to be tracked and monitored the way digital payments are.

Ah yes, remember the Canadian Truckers.

Digital currency if controlled by a government could lock down what you buy, where you travel, and how far.  Make the wrong online post (insert fascist or liberal government controllers here) and they lock down your purchases to oatmeal only and if you travel beyond your 1000m geofence you can't buy anything at all.  Then if you're getting your Universal Basic Income, it may have an expiration date forcing you to use it or lose it, keeping that socialist economy humming and stopping those evil hoarders and savers.

Slippery slope arguments are silly. If we ban smoking in public buildings, that leads directly to fascism and the next thing you know, they'll be planting microchips in us while we sleep and anyone who jaywalks will be killed instantly.

Well, that's a myth, that your electronic transactions are "tracked and monitored." People like to say that Big Brother is always looking over our shoulders, but he's not. There are in fact robust safeguards in place to keep your banking and other financial transactions private.

Besides, when is a cash transaction ever going to be completely "secret" anyway? Unless you're buying crystal meth from Jesse in Albuquerque, your purchase will be recorded. And any cash transaction of reasonable size--you'd be crazy NOT to record it. How else could you ask for a refund, complain, etc.?

Hell, even the hookers take PayPal these days. Safe and secure.

Clearly you don't understand crypto currencies and how CBDCs work.
