Democrats at the Senate confirmation hearings pressed Barrett on whether she would rule to overturn Roe v. Wade. She obviously had attended the Mike Pence School of Evasion, as she continually deflected the question. However, she did say that her golden shining ethical compass was to "follow the law" and implied that courts are not intended to create laws.
1. Roe v. Wade is "settled law." Abortion is legal in the United States and has been for almost half a century. Therefore, the Republican challenge to Roe amounts to an attempt to rewrite the law.
2. Trump has said repeatedly that he would only nominate a judge committed to overturning Roe. So does anyone think he didn't specifically ask her? And does anyone think she didn't say, "Yes, Sir, Mister President, I shall serve your wishes in this and anything else you ask of me"?
So while Barrett refused to answer the question, we all know how she's going to vote. We also know that she's going to vote to destroy Americans' health care in the middle of a pandemic. The Senate knows it--both sides.
Our only remedy is to utterly destroy those senators who vote to confirm her--and of course, the orange traitor who instigated this dog-and-pony show. Republicans have actually had the gall to speculate that Democrats will "pack the Court" if they get in power. Well, what is appointing three radical right-wing judges in four years if not "packing the Court"?
This will ensure a Nazi Supreme Court for a generation. And the Republicans are capering and gibbering in joy.
