Trump's Poor Taste On Display In The White House

President Trump’s latest addition to White House decor is a kitschy fantasy painting that shows him relaxing with Republican presidents of the past—an update to a best-selling image commonly found in tourist gift shops and online galleries.

The print, “The Republican Club” by Andy Thomas, could be seen in the background of a photo tweeted by 60 Minutes, which aired an interview with Trump on Sunday night.

It shows a slimmed-down Trump sandwiched between Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon, directly across from Abraham Lincoln. Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, and both Bushes are also in the imaginary scene.

Amateur art critics sneered on social media that the artwork was “tacky,” “a travesty,” or “blasphemy.” Some said it looked like the political version of the famous “dogs playing poker” painting.

It could be worse I guess. At least he hasn't installed the gold-plated toilets and the golden showers.

Poor old DonDiego loves the painting "The Republican Club".  And he immediately thought of "Dogs Playing Poker" when he saw it, . . . maybe that's why he liked it.

Just as a point of information, the artist, Andy Thomas, has done lots of similar paintings including both Republican and Democrat Presidents.  Mark might find some of them more attractive.

Other topics include Western Art and Civil War Art.  He is currently working on a painting of Wild Bill Hickok for a history museum.

Oh, and the interested buyer can buy some of his artwork emblazoned on coffee cups for a very reasonable $16.

EDITED TO ADD

There is a woman in the background on both "The Republican Club" and "The Democrat Club".  The artist explains that she represents the first Woman President.

DD beat me to it.  I like the painting, the style, colors.  Likenesses are spot on.

Don, I'd expect to find it in Doc's rumpus room not hanging in the white house.

Candy, Do you really think Trump is thin like that?

Mark, you are kidding, right?  Most of those presidents aren't even alive.  Should they be painted as they looked at time of death?  Trump's image is OK with me, as are the rest.  Would you criticise people who'd rather use a younger photo in their obituary?

It isn't the official Presidential portrait, after all.

I'd love a portrait of myself looking younger and prettier than I do now.  Maybe I'll contact the artist.  LOL.

This is the artwork he put on display in all his golf clubs.     Pretty nifty, huh?

You can have the same thing done with your picture  at your favorite novelty store or travelling carnival.    Thats where this one came from....along with his biography about being a self-made billonaire.

I have decided I like this version better. I also believe it more accurately depicts people that Trump truly admires.
