Trump's Secret Police

For those of you that don't know Trump has created his own secret police force. They are being test deployed in Portland right now.  They have been kidnaping citizens off the street, throwing them in unmarked vans, putting bags over their heads, and delivering them to the basement of a Federal courthouse where they are given a lengthy rendition before they are released.

So far they have gassed a group of women including several pregnant women, beat a Navy veteran, and sent someone to the hospital with a skull fracture.

These thugs are dressed in military combat fatigues, with no insignia or identification.  The DHS admits these newly-minted "officers" have no training in civilian law enforcement.

Most of the "officers" are voluntary transfers from the Border Patrol and Bureau Of Prisons.

They do have a little "POLICE" patch on their arms. But it's impossible to tell who they work for. There's nothing identifying them as Homeland Security agents.

As the protests (everywhere) have been infiltrated by alt-right extremists, many of them wearing paramilitary gear and carrying guns, I would say that any protester who resists "arrest" by those goons could plausibly say that he thought the person doing so had no authority.

This can't end well--and of course, any violence that breaks out will be blamed on the protestors, which is Trump and the DHS's goal. I would support the mayor of Portland turning the tables and ordering the police to disperse the Trump army, using force if necessary.

This is, of course, an election campaign stunt meant to depict Trump as supporting "law and order." of course, things were very lawful and orderly in Stalin's Russia, too.

Mark ignores 53 straight days of riots, $23+m in property damage, 50+ police injured (12 yesterday).  If people are going to riot, there are consequences, not all of them are good.

Well, the "police" lettering is false.  Federal agents aren't the police. That is why they always wear identifying information like Border Patrol, ATF and so on when conducting visible operations among the civilian population. Again these agents have no training in civilian law enforcement nor should they be engaging in civilian law enforcement.   This type of policing is not within their jurisdiction or expertise.

The peaceful protests were winding down in Portland until Trump inflamed them again. The only authority Federal Agents have there is on the Federal Courthouse grounds. Picking up people off the public streets is felonious behavior. Any consequences for people committing property damage crimes fall under the jurisdiction of state and local law enforcement. There is no legal basis for Federal Agents to be patrolling the streets.

Tom loves big government.

You call the protests "riots." That's in the standard playbook of fascist dictators everywhere. Take away the right of people to protest by depicting them as violent thugs.

There has been property damage, and that's pretty much inevitable--though I doubt Tom's figure can be substantiated. But the head of DHS has portrayed graffiti as "massive property damage caused by violent anarchists," and the reason for the Gestapo to move in. I mean, gimme a break!

Police have been injured, but so have protestors. And if Tom so decries such injuries, he should realize that the presence of Trump's secret police army can only escalate things.

Re: "Federal Agents in Portland"

Federal agents were first seen in Portland on June 27, according to the Oregonian.

The newspaper reported that after protesters tore down a statue of George Washington in June, the city came under President Donald Trump's scrutiny. Trump mentioned the city at his Tulsa campaign rally, and the day after he signed an executive order on monuments, federal officers in camouflage were seen outside the federal courthouse, the Oregonian reported.

The agents come from the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and an elite U.S. Customs and Border Protection team based on the U.S.-Mexico border and have been deployed to protect federal property.

Last week, video also surfaced of the federal authorities using unmarked vehicles to detain people, seemingly without an explanation.

If they were "deployed to protect federal property," then they have absolutely no jurisdiction EXCEPT on the grounds of such property.

Yet, every time I've seen them, they were operating on the streets of Portland, which are NOT federal property.

Andrew Napolitano slammed the Trump administration for sending federal law enforcement to Portland in response to violent protests in Oregon's largest city, with the Fox News senior judicial analyst calling the move "unconstitutional" and "just plain wrong."

“What happened in Portland over the weekend, it was not only unlawful and unconstitutional, it’s just plain wrong,” the former New Jersey Superior Court judge continued. “Sending armed, untrained police into the streets wearing fatigues without the knowledge or consent of the local police actually caused more violence.”

“You have a lot of peaceful demonstrators,” Napolitano argued. “The complaint filed by the attorney general of Oregon against the Department of Homeland Security recounts horror stories of peaceful people being kidnapped, held blindfold, handcuffed, and incommunicado for just two hours and then let go. There is no reason to disturb those people. The people they should stop are the ones with the baseball bats.”
