You missed that, too? OK, vaccines were developed and despite irresponsible idiotic conservitard resistance, the population was gradually immunized--though thanks to that resistance, we never reached the 70% target and as a result, the variants kept hitting us.

I don't know the exact timeline, but hospitalizations and deaths started dropping when the vaccines became available. So yeah, it worked--as well as it was ever going to with the 75 million parading around screaming that covid was a liberal hoax.

And you are seeing the fallout of it working so well now.......

I never said it was a hoax but I sure as hell didn't think shutting down the economy for 6 weeks was going to do anything either.  Or extending U/C for 1.5 years either.

Well, if you don't realize how many lives the shutdowns saved, I can't help you there. Likewise, how many business and personal finances were kept afloat by the relief packages.

It's pointless to argue exact numbers, because we can't do it over differently and see what would have happened. I can only tell you that Portland had some of the earliest and strictest lockdowns in the country, and the lowest rates of hospitalizations and deaths. It probably helped that we had a low percentage of non-compliant conservitards.
