The Turd's response to Canada's wildfires is to threaten to tariff them

Erlich stated that nothing could prevent famines in which hundreds of millions of people would die during the 1970s and that there would be a substantial increase in the world death rate. These were not tentative forecasts. They were presented as iron law.

The predictions did not stop there. During a 1971 speech, Ehrlich prophesied that he would take even-money odds that England would not exist by the year 2000. He also claimed the U.S. would be rationing water by 1974 and food by 1980. He went further still, predicting that 65 million Americans would starve to death

So you wanted to "prove" your statement that "liberals have been boo boo boo wocka wocka," and your Tom-proof is a quote from ONE person 55 years ago???

You, Tom, are a motherfucking idiot. Only people like you say that climate change isn't real.

Tom, do you remember all your bullshit posts about how the water management politics around the Sacramento River in the Northern Part of the state contributed to the Pallisades Fire ?   Yeah - that was indeed bullshit.   And you couldnt wait to bask in that bullshit in the context of that horrible tragedy.

That says alot about you.   And here you are doing it again.

This isnt the first wild fire in Canadian or US history.    Nor is it the first time smoke from those fires has invaded the airpspace of the neighboring country.   But I cant think of any other president of either party or his followers that thought to be punitive to our neighbor to the north instead of supportive.    But I guess thats just how you and Trump roll.

Im sure glad Im not an asshole like that when Hurricanes hit Ft Myers.

We do aid Canada

The United States has repeatedly sent wildland firefighters, aircraft, and support personnel to Canada under a long‑standing mutual‑aid agreement dating back to 1982 factually.co+1. These deployments are coordinated through the U.S. National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) and the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC) and are activated when Canadian authorities request assistance during severe wildfire seasons factually.co.

And in Ca the state emptied a reservoir, had multple fire trucks out of service and told the dept to stand down and be careful about damaging trees and bushes and of course the missing mayor who ignored warnings of potential fires

Evidence includes text messages that appear to show California State Parks employees seeking to limit the impact of fire suppression to protect endangered plants; an unreleased agency document stating that the park’s preferred policy is to let the area burn in a wildfire event; and secret maps that attempt to constrain firefighting operations in certain areas of the park—even adjacent to densely populated areas—to protect “sensitive natural and cultural resources” like endangered plants and Native American archaeological sites. It also includes allegations that state employees failed to monitor the smoldering burn scar in the days before the January 7 conflagration, despite nearly half a century of accumulated vegetation and forecasters issuing their direst warnings.

The plant matter in that area hadn’t burned since 1978—nearly half a century of accumulated fuel

California State Parks completed a draft Wildfire Management Plan for Topanga State Park. The document, obtained through public records requests by the fire victims’ attorneys, reveals a system of policies and maps designed to restrict firefighting operations on state parkland to protect “sensitive cultural and natural resources.” Those restrictions, attorneys for the Palisades fire victims allege, shaped the response to the New Year’s Eve fire. The plan designates large swaths of the park as “avoidance areas,” where normal firefighting tactics are typically restricted. Within these zones, “no heavy equipment, vehicles, and retardant are allowed,” the plan states, and “fire suppression activities may not occur within these areas without consultation of an Agency Representative, or a Resource Advisor assigned to the incident.” The plan also says that no “mop-up” operations to extinguish smoldering hot spots are allowed in these areas “without the presence of an archeologist READ [resource advisor]”—meaning that thoroughly putting out a fire required bureaucratic oversight.

What the fuck does all that have to do with Canada--even if you DID put it all in bolded italics??

Of course we aid Canada--and Canada aids us. That's what "mutual aid" means, you absolute fucking moron.

From someone who is located somewhat close to these in the state of Minnesota and has been dealing with smoke and other air quality issues the last couple of years these are unfortunately situations we are dealing with now as compared to never hearing about these here 30 years ago. (Meaning that yes people can start fires, but given the current and recent weather problems, a number of these have been started by storms, lightning and lack of rain) This coming from a firefighter friend of mine, who is currently up there battling these at present and has also been up there the last 2 years as well.

Our Boundary Water Canor Area is and has been a state and national treasure and is a place that I have been fortunate enough to visit and enjoy as a kid and my kids have also been there a couple of times as well and if you've seen these places there are not many better places to visit and really understand what treasures our country has.

I just have a couple questions about this topic, I'm wondering and hoping that if/when we ask for assistance or disaster relief for these fires in the BWCA will these requests get handled and approved/denied because our state hasn't voted Red?

Or is this going to be a way for Republicans to justify their idea of opening up mining in the BWCA (Might be Pete Staubers undoing) saying that well since it's burning anyway we might as well not give money to a non-Red state to help the Park service rangers assist the wildlife for food, help the resort owners fix or rebuild their cabins/resorts, assist the firefighters and national guard members who are helping currently fight these fires with more equipment to help speed up this process, especially since we just had two portions of counties who were told to evacuate today.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but I have a feeling that we'll see more help from our friends in Manitoba (of which I'm fortunate enough to know people from and our doing their best to deal with these) to our north than to where our help should be coming from.

Unfortunately, during both the first and the current Turd administration, disaster relief for blue states was constantly withheld, while it was lavished on red states. Biden didn't discriminate; his response to the North Carolina hurricane and flooding was exemplary. Which is of course how it should be. But the Turd is obsessed with his evil shit of getting revenge on those states that didn't vote for him.

Canada would be within their rights, when asked to provide disaster relief assistance to the US, to tell us to go pound sand. Trump has been treating them like enemies. But they're too nice to not lend a hand when assitance is needed.

And if you're talking about Minnesota/Manitoba, I'm sure you know that often, states and provinces that share the border are more tightly knit than their fellow states/provinces to the east and west. We certainly see that in Washington state, which is joined at the hip with BC.

I should also add that Elon, his teenage captain, "Big Balls," and DOGE slashed several sources of funding and personnel for FEMA as well as the National Forest and National Park Services. That hasn't been repaired. Those agencies are operating at 80% strength and funding (see: the Big Pig Bill) compared to the Biden administration. So I hope that you guys still have the resources you need.

Just breaks my heart to see the beautiful and pristine BWCA burning - one of the best memories from my teenage years was spending  a week paddling, camping, wildlife watching and fishing, and seeing only a few other folks the whole time. Best of luck to all you northerners!

Just think, we could stop the Turd War, bring all those service members home to fight the fires. There would be hundreds of billions in funding available, too!

But I know it's more important to blow up schoolgirls--if you're the Turd, that is.

I'm not convinced that Outdoor Hacker is a rigorous scientific publication.

Of course, you also said this, "If the fires are human caused then climate change is not a factor".

So, you know, credibility.
