U.S. Prepares For Coronavirus Pandemic

Oh goodness ! ! !

The People's Republic of China has finally recognized the obvious:

"In summary, somebody was entangled with the evolution of 2019-nCoV coronavirus. In addition to origins of natural recombination and intermediate host, the killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan. Safety level may need to be reinforced in high risk biohazardous laboratories. Regulations may be taken to relocate these laboratories far away from city center and other densely populated places."

Just as poor old DonDiego reported here on 8 February.

This is gettin' to be more serious, . . . really; poor old DonDiego means really !

Oh !  More news:

"Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health professor Marc Lipsitch told the Wall Stret Journal this week that "it is likely we'll see a global pandemic" of the coronavirus with up to 70 percent of people infected worldwide.

"I think it is likely we'll see a global pandemic," Lipsitch claimed adding that "If a pandemic happens, 40% to 70% of people world-wide are likely to be infected in the coming year."

"What percentage of those will be symptomatic, I can't give a good number," he continued.

The US is woefully unprepared for this.

The worst part is there are no vacancies left at Glenn Beck's apocolypse bunker.      I guess I'll have to take my chances going outside.    Life's a gamble.

The real impact may be economic. China is essentially shut down, and may be so for months. That affects the world economy. Estimates of global GDP have been revised downward by as much as half a percent. One example is Australia, already having suffered from devastating fires--and now, these is no tourism from China during the Aussie summer, which normally pumps $11 billion into their economy.

Oh, and the stable genius's campaign boast/promise of 3% GDP growth now looks like even more of a pipe dream than before.

We are, in fact, prepared for this. The one thing we need and don't have, though, is universal health care. The consequence is that some people who develop symptoms won't visit the doctor because they can't afford it--and some of those people will be contagious. It would be poetic justice if only conservatives died from the coronavirus that was transmitted because they wanted to deny people health care. But life isn't that fair.

Once again Der Fuhrer shows what an asshole he truly is.

Once again, Stalker shows that he doesn't realize that Hitler is dead. Oh, the sad consequences of a poor (and short) education...

"A statistical analysis of China’s coronavirus casualty data shows a near-perfect prediction model that data analysts say isn’t likely to naturally occur, casting doubt over the reliability of the numbers being reported to the World Health Organization. That’s aside from news on Thursday that health officials in the epicenter of the outbreak reported a surge in new infections after changing how they diagnose the illness."

Barron's is suggesting that China is reporting numbers of cases to match a statiscal model; and the numbers are too close to the model to represent what real data usually looks like, . . . at least a bit messy, like the real world.

"A recent speech by Chinese President Xi Jinping that has been published by state media indicates for the first time that he was leading the response to a new virus outbreak from early on in the crisis.

The publication of the Feb. 3 speech was an apparent attempt to demonstrate that the Communist Party leadership had acted decisively from the beginning, but also opens up the Chinese leader to criticism over why the public was not alerted sooner.

In the speech, Xi said he gave instructions on fighting the virus on Jan. 7 and ordered the shutdown that began on Jan. 23 of cities at the epicenter of the outbreak. His remarks were published by state media late Saturday."
