Uh OH ! Amazon Employees Listen to Conversations with Alexa

A DonDiego public-service announcement:

"Tens of millions of people use smart speakers and their voice software to play games, find music or trawl for trivia. Millions more are reluctant to invite the devices and their powerful microphones into their homes out of concern that someone might be listening.

Sometimes, someone is."

Surprisingly,  poor old DonDiego actually has an "Alexa"  a'sittin'  jes' across the room from him now.

But he rarely, . . . very rarely actually uses it for anything.  He does sometimes say goodnight to Alexa when he heads off to bed; she responds pleasantly.

Otherwise hardly anything, . . . 'cept talking dirty to her once in a while.

But the rest of you might have compromised some personal habits to the employees of Amazon.

I can understand the convenience of having  voice commands for operating the house....thermostat changes, turning on/off lights,   locking the doors, etc....    You would not have to sacrifice privacy for those functions.

I dont understand the "convenience" of telling Alexa to buy something ...or checking the weather.    Is it really that hard to do it at your desktop PC or tablet?   That whole monitored-listening function is just creepy.

No Alexa for me, thank you.

I still live in the stone age.

Poor old DonDiego still uses a little flip-phone, . . . he feels sorta like Captain Kirk every time he flips it open.

I have 2 in my house, for music, my grandson loves it, I also use the other one mainly as a radio for my dog.

I ask for the weather outside too,  amongst other things.
