An officer shot during a protest on the Las Vegas Strip last month has left University Medical Center for long-term treatment at an out-of-state facility, according to Metro Police.

A motorcade transported Officer Shay Mikalonis this morning to McCarran International Airport, where he was transferred by air to the treatment facility, police said.

Mikalonis was shot and gravely injured June 1 on the north Strip during a protest over the death of George Floyd during an arrest in Minnesota.

He is paralyzed from the neck down, on a ventilator and unable to speak, according to a family statement released by police.

Prosecutors have charged 20-year-old Edgar Samaniego with deliberately shooting Mikalonis during the protest.

A judge who reviewed evidence at a June 5 court hearing said police video shows Samaniego “walking by, taking out a gun and firing ... at officers.”

Samaniego is charged with attempted murder, battery and firearms counts and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

An appointed public defender, Scott Coffee, said Samaniego will plead not guilty. Samaniego also is being held without bail on accusations that he violated the terms of release on separate misdemeanor driving under the influence and illegal drug possession charges.

I would imagine that what got your post taken down was its personal attack nature.

Attack? I posted on an older posting that was allowed for weeks. There is no "attack", just factual information.

Factual, like saying that guy in Minneapolis BELONGS to me?

For God's sake, man up. You attacked me--stupidly and childishly. At LEAST, don't try to weasel out of it.
