My argument is indeed that it didn't go far enough nor would it result in a more secure border. One can't suggest that some components for an impactful piece of border legislation weren't included.. but the total import and final outcome would be lacking, imo. Five thousand encounters a day before action at the border isn't a curb/ deterrent. The entire congressional (all members) inaction on this border situation is well.. it sucks.
And somebody please..what does the current border situation cost us taxpayers?
Cost compared to what? By what metric?
One factor that you MAGAs NEVER--as in never, never, never--take into account is the BENEFIT of the current border situation--you all call it a "crisis," "open borders," blah blah blah. The benefit is trade and the relative ease of crossing--half a million people a day cross the border. The results are commerce and social/cultural interaction--and don't underestimate the value of the latter!
If we turn the border into an alligator-filled moat, we lose some large part of the above benefits. You MAGAs can't deny that, so all you can do is belittle and minimize it. They're all criminals and rapists anyway. Fentanyl. Every one of them has his underwear stuffed full of fentanyl. They're coming here to open up taco trucls and deprive hard-working Americans of their jobs. My dream of picking kiwi fruit in the 100-degree sun for $8.50 an hour has been shattered. WAAAH!
