Really, isn't it stupid to be "proud" of something you have absolutely nothing to do with? And if you're proud when "your" team wins, shouldn't you be ashamed when they lose???
You see, I view tribalism as the second greatest source of human misery, death, and destruction, second only to religion. And there ain't no greater display of tribalism than sports fandom.
I do on occasion have a mild desire for one team or the other to win, but I primarily watch sports to see good performances and artistry, by "my" team or "theirs." It matters not which.
I wouldn't really consider a sports team part of my identity or a city's identity. I just think it can be fun to havd a team to root for.
