The Republicans whine whine whine about the deficit that WUZ CAUSED BY GUMMINT SPENDIN. Now, they're voting for something that will drastically increase it.
Of course, they could make up for it by canceling the Trump tax windfall for billionaires.
Why should there be no tax on tips or OT?
That makes no sense at all.

It's called "a feeble attempt to buy votes/approval."
There's a tiny scrap of sense hidden inside that dumb idea, though. Many (red) states allow paying tipped workers the federal "subminimum wage," which is as low as $2.13 an hour, and the rationale is that tips make up the difference and until the total reaches regular minimum wage, the idea is that it's "subsistence" and shouldn't be taxed. Of course, that ignores the fact that many tipped workers make a hefty chunk o'change, and there's no reason why that cocktail waitress who's making $300 a shift should be exempt. But as the Turd wants to throw a bone to his base, he's giving a sop to Bucktooth Betty and Barley Barney, who work at the local truck stop and have gone to every Trump rally since 2015.
Blue states have a fair minimum wage, so this shit never comes up.
As far as OT goes, the rationale is that many employers require OT, and the mandated time and a half supposedly doesn't compensate for the added inconvenience for a lot of workers--which is probably true. But there's a backdoor rationale at play, which isn't all that surprising. DOGE's path of destruction will result in hundreds of thousands of federal workers having to work OT whether they like it or not. This is an attempt to throw them a bone.
But overall, you're right. Earnings are earnings and there's no good reason to tax one kind of earnings differently from another.
Tell you what, David - if you can show me what is in the Bill that offsets those tax cuts so they dont negatively impact the deficit then I will join your condemnation of Democrats.
If you cant then can we all agree that both you and Republicans in Congress are full of shit on the topic of balanced budgets?

Republicans always do-si-do around this issue by bleating TERRIBUL LIBBURAL SPENDIN'. Even a four-year-old knows that you run out of money when
a) You don't make enough
b) You spend too much
a) is just as bad as b) for your budget. So eliminating taxes on tips and OT is an a) move, and is just as harmful in terms of the deficit as anything in the b) category.
I mean, DUHHHH, MAGA and Dumb Davey Dog.
I'm waiting for David's response on how not taxing tips or OT makes sense..........

To him, it makes sense because Trump said it/wants it. Remember how he passionately bleated that Haitian immigrants were definitely eating cats? Or for that matter, his continued insistence that the Turd won in 2020?

Seriously, he can't respond to this and explain what makes sense of it? He is posting all day long here.

No tax on tips makes a lot of sense. The real question is why it makes sense to tax tips.
1 You know we haven't always taxed tips, right? It started in 1982.
2 You can look at it as a gift from patron to service employee for good service rather than normal employment income from an employer.
3 It is a lot of extra work for employees and businesses to account for tips and get it right on government tax witholding and W2s. Some tips are charged. Some are cash. Sime are split. Employees must keep a daily record. We trust employees to report the cash, but also assume a minimum collected...even if that's wrong. Businesses must do annual reports. There are hundreds of pages of rulings and rules. I'm for making it simple. Just let them keep their tips.
