I live in a Trumptard town, so I'm not surprised---I'm seeing about 50% mask compliance outside buildings, and about 75% inside them. People don't seem to understand that even when you ARE wearing a mask, you still need to practice social distancing. Also, many people seem to think that when you're outside, you don't ever need to wear a mask.
I'm seeing a lot of immortal teenagers prancing around without masks, congregating with their besties, etc. I've also seen a fair number of oldsters without masks, indoors and outside. The one demographic that seems to be complying most is moms with children. Even rabid Trumpers are thinking twice about endangering their children, apparently.
Modeling from the CDC and other sources says that if everyone wears a mask (95% compliance), 70,000 fewer people will die by the end of the year. Currently, mask compliance is at about 55% nationwide. That's not nearly good enough. I doubt very much that the complaince rate will go up significantly.
I guess we'll have to chalk up those extra 70,000 deaths as just more casualties of the Trump virus.
