Back in May 2018 Represenative Eric Swalwell a new United States Congressman from the California District just east of San Francisco Bay proposed a ban on "military-style semi-automatic assault weapons".  The ban would be effected by the US Government simply purchasing all the weapons subject to the ban.

 

Nothing particularly novel about that, . . . Democrat, . . . . California, . . . . near san Francisco, . . . . pretty much "par for the course" as they say.

But for reasons unknown to poor old DonDiego, . . . a twitter-storm, albeit a tiny storm, erupted on Friday 16 November.

 

i. A fellow who goes by Joe Biggs (address: @Rambobiggs) apparently took umbrage at the Representative's proposal, and tweeted:

"So basically @RepSwalwell wants a war.  Because that's what you would get.  You're outta your f*ck*ng mind if you think I'll give up my rights and give the guv all the power."

[Joe Biggs did not employ asterisks in his response;  DonDiego employed them to avoid offending any easily offended readers.]

 

ii. To which representative ( @RepSwalwell) responded:

"And it would be a short war my friend.  The government has nukes.  Too many of them.  But they're legal.  I'm sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities."

iii. Joe Biggs seemed taken aback by the proposal to initiate nuclear war against the citizenry as a starting point for a conversation on Government seizure of weapons:

"So our government would nuke its own country in order to take guns?  Wow"

 

iv. So after threatening to nuke those who oppose his proposal, Representative Swalwell answered:

"Don't be so dramatic.  No one is nuking anyone or threatening that.  I'm telling you this is not the 18th Century.  The argument that you woild go to war with your government if an assault weapons ban was in place is ludicrous and inflames the gun debate.  Which is what you want."

 

Whew !  That was close.

 

Representative Swalwell is either a power-hungry fellow who wishes to deprive citizens of their weaponry, . . . or a pussy, who after threatening to employ nuclear weapons to deprive the citizenry of their weapons claims not to have threatened to employ nuclear weapons against the citizens.

 

Or he could be a power-hungry pussy ! ! !
