What a difference a year makes on the Trump illegal tariffs

Almost a year ago, MAGA was celebrating the extra tax income:

Trump calls tariff windfall 'so beautiful to see' as cash sails in -Trump points to $25B spike in excess funds as evidence of trade policy success

President Donald Trump on Monday touted a "beautiful" surge in tariff revenues on imported goods, crediting his administration's trade policies for a flood of cash into the U.S. economy. "We're finding hundreds of billions of dollars of cash is pouring into our country now because of tariffs," Trump said during a White House press briefing. "It's so beautiful to see it," Trump said of the record tariff revenues figures, pointing to a $25 billion spike in excess funds as evidence of their success. -  Tariff revenues rose steadily from $17.4 billion in April to $23.9 billion in May, before climbing to $29 billion in June. -- In July, the U.S. collected over $29 billion in tariff revenues, the highest monthly total so far this year. According to the Treasury Department’s latest "Customs and Certain Excise Taxes" data, released on Aug. 7, total tariff revenues have reached $154 billion. -- https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/trump-calls-tariff-windfall-so-beautiful-see-cash-sails

Tariff refunds push US June budget deficit to $120 billion | Reuters

"WASHINGTON, July 13 (Reuters) - Growing refunds from President Donald Trump's tariffs, after they were ruled illegal, pushed the June federal budget deficit to $120 billion, the U.S. Treasury Department said on Monday, a sharp reversal from the $27 billion surplus in June 2025 that the administration touted as evidence of tariff success."

Everyone knows that the tariffs worked. The Supreme Court got it wrong.

The best part is the refunds go to the corporations that raised our prices.   We don't get the refunds - the corporations do.

Maybe that was the plan all along. Implement illegal tariffs, squeeze billions out of American consumers' pockets, wait for the courts to declare those tariffs invalid, and then refund that money to the corporations. Just another MAGA scheme to grift money out of ordinary people's pockets and stuff it into the pockets of the fat cats.

While creatures like Millerpiggy cheered.

I've never seen so many "conservatives" cheer so hard for increased taxes on Americans.  Their new slogan seems to be, "Tax Americans, spend it in Iran."

The LVA website server is terrible; you hit "Reply" and nothing happens for fifteen seconds, so you naturally conclude you must not have pressed the button, and you hit it again...and now you have a duplicate post.

But I too think his post is worthy of being there twice. Apparently the MAGA fiscal prudence policy doesn't extend to not spending billions to drop horribly expensive boomity booms on whomever Trump doesn't like.

And the feeble justification for all that? "They may develop a nuclear weapon someday, and they're baddies." Yeah, blowing up Iranian schoolgirls really incentivized them to stop their weapons development.

It's one of those "glitches" that happens from time to time.   But, yeah, it was a good post as well, which is why I commented.  Usually just pass over, but this deserved a response....albeit an attempt to also be funny.
