As in the past (remote and currently), some will dig in and make it on their own. "Illegal" is a loaded word, means different things to different people, though I know what is getting at in Kitchen Sink posts about 'illegal immigration.'
If all were as perfect as I am, we'd have no trouble. I pay my bills pronto, get my taxes 'done' early, win or lose. I pay auto insurance, property tax, etc. ahead of time, no leaving it to the last minute and forget.
But many illegals come to escape oppression and hope to reap the benefits available in the US,legally signed up or just willing, which is already established that not every immigrant is immediately put in jail but not every one is out to steal from you. Maybe you all live in richer areas up east and think that any illegal just must be of the sordid type.
As I alluded to first paragraph, I'd prefer that every human driving a car has registered it, passed the drivers test, not inebriated, keeps it repaired, and so on. I'd like them all to register so as to be accountable in whatever way it is done in the state or county wherever they live. I can go on and on. I'm adding that I'd like for everyone, including the poor, the illegal, to have transportation to a job, or to take their kid to school and pick them up, get cleaning supplies with which to bathe, clean their houses.
If they are orbiting my universe, I'd prefer that they had access to food, water, shelter, clean clothes and the gumption to sign up for jobs that nobody else will do. A lot of them do yard work, carpentry, paint houses, often at a lower cost, and that because equipment and business licenses cost a hunk of money. The last time we had our house painted I'm pretty sure the guys who did the work (and did it excellently, under supervision---don't know if the super was 'legal') were likely not 'legal' citizens.
Maybe some steal and break other laws, maybe to survive or maybe just evil. So are a lot of LEGAL people in my and your world.
Have any of you all worked maybe one day a month at a food bank? Donated to a food bank?
Yes, it is complicated.
