What does it feel like to be a MAGA moron, David?

What does it feel like to be despised by everyone who has had the misfortune of dealing with you?

OK, I'll bite.  The guy in the video doesn't get it.

Because if you/I/we are white, you don't have decades, actually centuries of the history of being told that you are less than acceptable as a human, e.g. initially not human enough for your rights to be covered by the U.S. Constitution; that lynching maybe of your great grandfather for less than casting an eye toward a white woman was not just allowed but expected; that other people don't want to dine by you, sit by you; that laws had to be passed to force the white establishment to allow you to ride the bus, eat in any restaurant, rent a house, attend decent schools with white students, apply for jobs and be fairly considered; and the key word there is being forced, not necessarily happily embraced by all.

I could go on and on, but essentially, IMHO, not enough time has passed that the taint, the damage, the humiliation of those and worse wrongs are far enough removed.  Not to mention the unfortunate fact of the failure of law enforcement to accept that they are hired to "serve and protect" all citizens.  One George Floyd-type incident occurs, and painful wounds are opened again.

Believe me, I love cops and appreciate the difficulty of their jobs in all kinds of situations, but Jesus aren't they trained better?  The individual may never have encountered blatent abuse, mistreatment, humiliation, but their own 'man on the street' cannot count on being treated decently by those that society has appointed and paid to do so.

Those wounds of past wrongs, past fears, are raw and near impossible to ignore.

That is a burden that "...to Be White" doesn't have to carry.

That's my answer.

Candy, I don't think that one in a thousand white persons knows what it's like to be black in this country. The routine, blatant mistreatment of black people half a century ago has mostly (but by no means completely!) receded, but it has been replaced by thousands of what's called "micro aggressions." I didn't know anything about that until I made some black friends and they told me about what they experienced on a daily basis. And they were successful professionals! One was a public defender, and the other a grocery store manager. Both were bridge partners, which is how I met them.

Suffice it to say that I didn't believe them at first; I thought that they were being hypersensitive. Then I began to observe. The different treatment they received was evident, and constant.

And now, of course, we have an entire political party, the MAGApigs, firmly aligned against them once more. Trump clumsily and condescendingly tried to win them over in 2024, and partially succeeded. But all the Medicare and Medicaid cuts, not to mention the idiot Trumpiffs, will hurt poor black communities disproportionately.
