Did any Democrat during Trump's speech stand or clap
Correction: not logic, a video of Democrats clapping.
I have a feeling that VegasVic doesn't seriously want an explanation as to 'what happened', but instead just felt the need to be negative about President Trump. However, in the interest of helping him to understand what happened and why it's not a serious complaint, I offer several key points about what really happened.
1. Puffery. Puffery is a sales and advertising technique. It's also known as exaggeration or hyperbole. If you hadn't noticed, Trump is a salesman who uses this technique frequently (Duh) as do many politicians. So examples of Puffery are when your advertising claims things like "Best Steaks on Earth" or "Get results in a flash," "Blazing speeds," "Instantly noticeable results," "Faster than a speeding bullet,".
President Trump says things like "We've never seen anything like it," and has claimed something is the "Biggest or Best or Smartest or Fastest" thousands of times. Now, when he said he would end the war on Day 1 or before he even became president, he is really practicing what he has called "truthful hyperbole". He has stated in his past business life that "It’s an innocent form of exaggeration, and a very effective form of promotion.”.
Democrats will of course just call it 'lying', but the reality is that President Trump was just communicating that ending the war in Ukraine was going to be a top priority of his administration. I think that most people understand this, most people want an end to the war and most people support the administration's focus on it.
2. What's taking so long? OMG! It's been 6 weeks and we still don't have peace! Of course there were a few logistical reasons for this lack of peace that most reasonable people understand. First, Trump had to get his cabinet confirmed. Then they had to establish a framework. Then Trump had to have the 90 minute call with Putin to see if the meeting in Saudi Arabia could happen. Then they actually had to meet with both Ukraine and Russia to determine if peace was even possible. Then they had to work up the brilliant mineral deal that commits the US to a long term economic relationship with Ukraine which helps them rebuild their country, secures the US a long term supply of critical minerals that China has monopolized, and pays us back for the billions of dollars we've given them. And trust me, there were and are thousands of details that need to be worked out.
Of course there will be issues, delays and bumps along the road to peace like the Zelensky meeting to sign the mineral deal and Russia's increased attacks. It's a protracted and bloody war and no...it's not simple to resolve but that's the hard work of diplomacy.
Although President Trump was not able to end this war before he took office, his mid-east envoy Steve Witkoff was instrumental in the Gaza ceasefire that was actually negotiated before Trump took office. I'm shocked that no Democrats here were heaping praise on Witkoff and Trump's contribution to getting those hostages freed. Shocked I tell you.
3. And finally, even though Trump did not live up to VegasVic's expectation that Trump would create world peace before he took office, you really should consider what the alternative was. What was the Biden/Harris strategy to resolve the war? As far as I can determine it was 'Whatever it takes for as long as it takes'; even if that means the US going billions more into debt, the deaths of a million plus Russians and Ukrainians and the potential for WWIII. Fight to the last Ukrainian!
What was the Democrats end game? Escalate the war and defeat the Russians on the ground and reclaim all land lost including the Crimea? Boots on the ground? NATO membership? Reparations from Russia? Or just another Forever War? These are delusions. Fact is that Ukraine is losing this war and it's time to stop the killing.
There was a time when liberal Democrats would welcome any peace initiative that brought the warring parties to the table. Unfortunately, they have become the party of war; the new NeoCons who support the military industrial complex and proxy wars more than anything else. Kamala supporter Dick Cheney approves of this message. This is just one reason why approval ratings of the Democratic party are at historic lows. You've lost your way and become the people you used to hate.
Whether he gets it done in one day or 6 months, let's all hope that Trump can help bring about a negotiated ceasefire and eventual peace. That is unless you prefer death and destruction and war. Complaining that it hasn't been done in a day is meaningless when you consider that the Democrat leadership had no plan to end the war and no desire to stop the carnage.
Unfortunately for the board, I actually have a life and can't check back and reply to responses every hour, so I won't be able to respond for days. I just hope that I've answered VegasVic's question and provided some enlightenment.
Let me summarize my post.
1 He was was exagerating to communicate his focus and desire to end the war.
2 Realistically it takes time to end a bloody war. But he's moving fast.
3 The Democrat alternative was an unwinnable forever war that we borrow money to finance.
Now, let the bashing begin!
Cheers!
Charles...it's actually kind of tragic to see your obvious intelligence wrecked beyond repair by your choice to view the world through the distorted fun house window that is MAGA.
Your apologies for Trump are kind of disgusting. He lies out his ass, ALL THE TIME, makes grandiose promises, ALL THE TIME, and when he turns out to have been full of shit, you and your kind just chortle and say it was "Trump being Trump."
I agree that lying and making false promises is a cherished negotiation tactic. But if you make it habitual, it should stop working. I find it amazing that you MAGAs still eagerly buy his shit. Only a total rube would believe him.

“They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. And I’ll have that done — I’ll have that done in 24 hours.”
"I know [Ukrainian President Volodomyr] Zelenskyy well. I know [Russian President Vladimir] Putin well. I would get that ended in a period of 24 hours,"
"One hundred per cent, it would be easy. That deal would be easy."
"I will get it settled before I even become president,”

Oh my, Trump exagerates...we all know that. Are you going to whine when Trump gets a deal done because it happened in four months instead of one day? Sleepy sent $200 billion and three years, and got a big fat egg.

Well said. But you know - or should now realize - everything you posted here is wasted on the rabib brainwashed liberals who posess no common sense and/or comprehension. As you will see, when you talk sense to a fool, they call you foolish - as is verified by Lying Lewis's post

To respond to Charles and Boilerman's Russian propoganda.....
The alternative solution to Trump's foreign policy with Ukraine was to let Ukraine determine the effort and terms by which they would seek peace. Not Russia. The bone spur pussy says Russia holds all the cards. Ukraine better just take what is offered if they know whats good for them. Thats after he cutoff their intelligence....their funding....and repeated Russian propoganda about who started the war and who is to blame for it. (Or as Boilerman calls it - exagerating...and holy shit). Oh - and now he wants out of NATO and has publicy stated he wont honor the founding principals of that sacred, Democratic alliance.
Oh - and he wants to turn Russia'smoney train back on with oil and remove all of their sanctions. Lots of carrots and sticks, right? I mean without any sticks. Cause he's a pussy.
When Russia tried to push around Reagan he called their bluff and promised whatever action Russia took we would do ten fold. And we had the economy to do it. They didnt. That still holds true today. But we dont have Ronald Reagan - we have the bone spur pussy who gets pushed around (or just embraces) the half pint dictator of Russia.
Reagan is in heaven right now registering to be a Democrat.
