Really? Mistakenly mistyping a keystroke equates to a new phone company? If this were true, you would be the proud owner of a multitude of new companies... You really are pathetic.
Toad doesn't even understand the question.
I dont undersand the quesiton either. Our resident conservatives have been telling us for months oil supply is conrolled by Joe Biden, not Exxon. So who gives a shit about Exxon's returns? I mean unless the Joe Biden rhetoric is just a bunch of crybaby bullshit.
Boiler's childish misunderstanding of the basics shows in his use of the term, "return on assets." That's a meaningless phrase unless a company's primary assets are financial instruments or income-producing property. The primary assets of a fossil fuel company are infrastructure, leases, intellectual property, and intangibles such as patents--none of which are directly purposed with generating revenue. And those assets deplete/depreciate/are amortized over time--so their value changes constantly.
The proper way to evaluate such a business's financial performance is the way you would imagine: profit and loss. And the profits of the fossil fuel companies in the last six months have been at an all-time high.
But let's put aside any quibble about the numbers for the moment. I'd like to ask Boiler: should electric utilities be allowed to charge whatever will maximize their profits? What about water companies? Surely, they could triple their rates, and most people would pay them anyway, though some wouldn't be able to. Would you be OK with that, Boiler?
I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at. Fuel, in whatever form it takes, is a necessity, not a luxury. Its provision and sale should be regulated and controlled. The fossil fuel companies should not be allowed to make their shareholders rich at the expense of poor people who have no choice but to buy their products (and don't say something moronic like "They can take the bus.").
