2016 elections, in the words of Micheal Moore, "Why couldn't the Dems nominate someone that was Likable, like Barbara Striesand or anybody".

Trump did beat 16 other Republicans for the nomination.  Pundits said it was an early Christmas gift for the Dems.  Hillary could not have beaten the local dog catcher as it turns out.  The same dog catcher would have soundly beaten Trump.  

IMO, Trump is a Joke.  His legacy for me will be the iconic phrase  "you can't make this stuff up".  I believe John Bolton is correct, "This country can survive one term of Trump, but not a second term".

I'm astonished that Trump still has his supporters that defend him.  That is pretty scary.  I agree with the GOP on some issues, as I agree with Democrats on some issues.

I've been wondering why ANYONE still supports him, and the answer might be twofold: 1) there is a small group of people (relatively speaking) who are absolutely turned on by Trump's manner and actions, much as there are people who actively worship Jeffrey Dahmer; 2) it's easier to double down than to admit you were wrong. Conservatives who are covered with shame for having voted for Trump are reiterating their support for him because to admit they were wrong is just too painful.

Hillary lost because she is a woman. Some 5-10% of the population, I estimate, would never vote for a woman for President. Misogyny is still a thing in the US. That won't work against Biden as such, but it may hurt him in terms of his running mate selection. Trump, by contrast, will have Pence, who is neither male nor female--a neuter-gender homunculus.

Poor old DonDiego would gladly support a lady President if he found her politics superior to those of her opponent.  Fr'instance: Marsha Blackburn, Joni Ernst, Nikki Haley, and Martha McSally.

Well, yes---in this supposedly enlightened day and age, no one is going to come out and admit that they voted against Hillary because of her gender---similarly to nobody admitting that they voted against Obama due to his race (except in parts of the Deep South, where expressing such sentimants is considered not only acceptable but admirable).

The silly cartoons and photoshopped images DonDiego linked to do nothing to bolster his argument. He never has, in fact, pointed out why he thinks that Hillary is evil. He may have referenced one or more of the wild conspiracy theories that have always circulated about the Clintons, but those theories do not rise to the level of reasons for hating them.

It is definitely a modern phenomenon that misogyny, racism, and other forms of bigotry have to be wrapped in a nice shiny package to be acceptable. They remain, however, concepts as ugly as they have always been.

Hillary lost because of the "worst trade deal in history", NAFTA, which Trump successfully exploited by appealing to people who lost their jobs as a result.    

Trump removed it, renamed it, and put it back in place...and his QaNon supporters cheered.    The rust belt workers  he exploted?  Not so much.   They dont seem to be as easily fooled as the cast of Deliverance.

Blackburn is a wackadoodle.  Ernst is looking like she might lose her senate seat now. What has McSally ever done? She lost her last election to a Democrat in red Arizona and now she is going to lose this one to a Democrat in Red Arizona. Conservatives keep giving her participation trophies by appointing her to things. I guess that is enough to earn Don Diego's vote.

Haley may be the only one you ever get a chance to vote for.  That is if Desperate Donnie dumps Pence and names her VP in a futile attempt to save his 2020 campaign.

Naah, Pence's implied reward for acting as Trump's "Gimp" all this time is that he would get to be El Presidente if the Orange One croaks. If Trump kicks him off the train now, there will be consequences---including the release of more Trump secrets. I'm sure Pence has seen a LOT.

Trump will go down with all guns blazing. We'll have to endure another five months of his awful shit. No way around it. But I can see in the not-too-distant future, a time when I will pick up the paper and the headline will NOT be about the latest horrid thing that Trump did.
