When you’re finding fraud and someone yells STOP!

Personally, as a fiscal conservative I'm a huge fan of cutting govt. waste / fraud / overspending; but there are some legal hurdles to jump in order to accomplish it / make it sustainable. Those hurdles might cause a major downshift in progress with the current push. Congress has to get on board with these funding cuts at some point or it won't hold up. The so-named impoundment powers of the president aren't enough without  congressional legislation (SCOTUS said so in both 1975 and 1998).

A majority of the Dems here and in Congress are bemoaning the processes currently being employed. They conveniently forget that Clinton and Gore applied some of these exact same tactics when they were in power ( 1993 - NPR Act). Of course, the plusses from that initiative just seemed to wane and wither away over time despite good changes; plus that was 30+ yrs ago. Any of these so-called significant agency changes and cost - cutting measures might have short-term half-lives the way the annoying political pendulum swings back and forth in the US. Summarily, I'm a huge supporter of what they're doing..the cutting, etc..but they have to enact laws to back and sustain it.

But it provides fodder for spurious debate..obviously. Yipee-ti-yay...

You seem massively onboard with the concept, so much that you're willing to turn a blind eye to the gross and blatant illegality of the process as executed by Turd & Co.

So be a MAGA, call everything you don't like "waste" and "fraud," and that can smooth out all those nasty little legal bumps like separation of powers and due process.

We've heard it all before. Kristallnacht may not have been strictly legal, but hey, we got rid of all the Jews. You can justify anything by pejoratively labeling whoever opposed you.

Also, your comparison of whatever the Clinton administration may have done to what is being done now is beyond absurd. Why do you admire the evil Turd so much that you're willing to tie yourself into moral, logical, and ethical knots to apologize for him?

As I've said before, I expect that from our local deranged MAGAs, but I expect more from you. An intelligent MAGA is extremely rare and very dangerous.

You bet I'm in favor of the cost-cutting / slashing. But I'm also in favor of making these acts legal with specificity and giving it a sustaining backbone via congressional legislation. That was all made pretty clear in the original post...you either misinterpreted or just assumed you saw another opportunity to whack on conservatives and the new president.  Nor did I equate the Clinton- Gore actions with the current situation in magnitude. You're just having a difficult time with the transition, ain't ya? Things might ease up for you in a couple years ( midterms); then again, maybe not.

Also, do you favor some of the cost items delineated in the USAID list? Absolutely I think many of the reported expenses are a waste of taxpayer monies..and I don't / won't apologize for it.

Some small line item  deep inside the "Intl Affaris" section  is the USAid victory they are bragging about.    And MAGA is all clapping their hands.

I love this pie chart - can you imagine the amount of graft and waste that will be found in the 4 largest sections of the chart?  There will be literally Trillions of dollars of obscene waste found - and PJ will fight the removal of all of this waste and fraud with more ignorant insanity.

You should give up your Social Security benefits and Medicare, why be a welfare queen? I also say we should cut off the freeloading farmers and ranchers who depend on federal welfare to stay in business.

And you should give up posting - your asinine remarks just reaffirm the fact that you are to ignorant to be remarking about anything.

How many years have we heard that SSI, Medicare, and Medicaid will all be insolvent in an XYZ relatively short period of time under the current approaches? And how many years have we been bad-mouthing the overall insane costs of health care at point of service? How long have we the people been bitching about health insurance costs and services? And now, the proportion of our annual expenses required to service the 37T debt is roughly estimated to be 17-18% ( 1.2 T for 2024) of the total budget. We've heard about all these tragedies but not much has been done to address it in DC; these are all big money issues, obviously.

In light of the above scenarios that affects the lives of most of us at some point, why wouldn't we want the govt. to become more efficient, discover waste and abuse particularly within these proportionally high cost budget items (eg SSI, Medicare, Medicaid) without massive benefit cuts? As stated earlier, congress needs to enact legislation to make these actions legal. But these high cost entities are perhaps the most likely areas to work on among the relative spending / expense options. For certain, the govt.can't afford the political cost of cutting benefits to consumers; that'd be sacrilege and would uproot their overall intent/ momentum.

They're not going to cut defense spending..bet on big increases ..like..eggs.

OBVIOUSLY--as in DUHHH WOCKA WOCKA WOCKA--in ANY government agency the size of USAID's operations, there will be some waste...but before I, you, Elon, or MAGAturds label any of their expenditures as such, we need a strict definition of what "waste" actually is. It's not cut and dried.

First of all, something MAGA, you, I, the Turd, Millerscum and Boilerboob (etc.) don't like isn't automatically wasteful.

But it gets murky after that. You build a dam, erect a bridge, etc.--you can usually do a fairly accurate cost:benefit analysis, even if there's an element of subjectivity. Ratios above 1.0 are by definition wasteful. Jimmy Carter lost the Presidency largely by incurring the wrath of western Republican senators, by killing all federal water projects with a ratio of 1.6 or higher.

But how do you do a cost/benefit analysis when the primary benefits are to save human lives and/or alleviate human suffering? Is that "wasteful" because there's no cash return?

You sure think it's wasteful if the beneficiaries are black, if you're like racist Boilerboob, or Elon, who grew up hating black people as his kind gradually lost power (research the reasons he has a hard-on for USAID if you want an eye-opener).

As far as I feel about the "transition"-- I'm actually celebrating how awful, how crude, how blatantly illegal, how petty, how selfish, and how unlawful it currently is. Trump is giving the Democrats boatloads of ammo to fire at him and a major point to rally around. If he had the maturity and self-control to just shut up and govern, he could take advantage of opposition disarray to implement his dreamt-of Thousand-Year Reich.

But he's too fucking stupid.

Lewis - do you think anybody pays any attention to your stupid ass posts that inject political warfare and racism?  How about this?  STFU and stick to commenting on Vegas and gambling.
It must be a miserable existance knowing that you have Trump for 4 and Vance for 8 more.  You should move to Canada.  All this winning has to just blow your mind.

Go ahead.  In Lewis fashion, insult me, wish death threats and behave like a 5 year old.

Have a nice day! (Stroh)

Well, obviously, YOU pay attention to them!

Check, mate, and laughter :)

Multiple government-oriented and directly affiliated agencies (  these reports are FROM  US Govt groups) have stated and warned for several years regarding the unsustainable mountain of debt this country is currently operating under..and it's perpetually getting deeper. These entities include Bureau of Fiscal Services, the Government Accountability Office, the Tax Foundation, Research Affiliates, and the Congressional Budget Office ; hell, Google their reports. This is largely from purely governmental sources / entities..the supposed trough we all water / consume from.

Bi-partisan waste / fraud / overspending has now come home to roost with a national debt of 37T. Yet now that government leadership is attempting to address these issues directly with fervor, the left including the politicians hit the streets in protest. The entire citizenry has to operate under some type of budgetary cap with restraints..why shouldn't we demand our government do the same? It's been 30+ years since we had a balanced budget.  The descriptive term 'big government' and associative spending trends has put us in a deep fiscal hole. I don't care who or how one votes, the problem is much bigger and beyond that.

The left bemoans and protests the cost-cutting attempts simply because it's the other side.. that's the basis. I'll revisit and state again that these actions have to be backed by legislation in order to be sustainable and that multiple courts and blow-ups are happening and will happen until laws are enacted regarding funding cuts. So that bus needs a GPS reset but is at least attempting to head in the right direction, imo.

The debate regarding specific program and agency cuts will be an inherent component of congressional legislation; there will remain specific spending and program conflicts that both sides will disagree with after laws are enacted..but it's the general direction that counts. Gotta do something, girls.
