Ok, I get it now. You aren't paying in for 2025 in protest. At least that makes sense. Are you working though?
However, anyone not filing on time and owing are going to get hit even harder with an underpayment penalty and interest. I always tell people (the obvious) that extending your return, doesn't extend your date for what you owe.
Sometimes I think you make these broad points and then have to back pedal fast when they don't make any sense. (we all remember when you told us U/C taxes were taken out of everybody's paychecks; hard to forget that whopper) What you originally told all of us here is you weren't filing your taxes for 2024, like it was some big protest......which it isn't.
Jerry, workers, not employers, pay unemployment taxes...just like consumers, not sellers, pay sales taxes. That's because workers are paid less due to the payroll taxes that employers are obligated to pay...and consumers pay more because of the sales taxes sellers are obligated to pay. These are "passed on" costs.
I know you understand this...you're not as dumb as Boilerboob or stupid Tom. So you might as well drop the pretense.
You're contradicting yourself, as well, when you tell me that not filing carries penalties and then that my not filing is no big whoop. Even if you don't owe anything, not filing can invoke penalties. And FWIW, I did say I owed a very small amount.
The way I'm not paying taxes right now is, I've adjusted my federal withholding to EXEMPT. I also intend to not file next year. And yes, I'm still working--same gigs as before, though I didn't do nearly as much tax prep work this year as previously.
