Who will be president in Venezuela?

With Maduro captured and the US taking control who will they install as president?

There is strong evidence to suggest that the actual winner of the presidential election was Edmundo González. Much of the justification for this action has supposedly been based around this assertion.

Will the US lend credibility to this by ensuring that he is president, or will they choose/allow a member of his party such as his vice president to take over?

Seems to me that if anyone other than Gonzalez is installed it strongly discredits the idea that the US invaded to install the rightful president.

If Gonzalez does not become president will any one who stated that was the reason we invaded admit they were deceived? Or at least partially deceived?

By all  accounts, Edmundo Gonzalez won the Presidential election in a landslide. When the smoke clears, he should be installed as the President. If not, then why not? Naysayers - what do you say?

What would your opinion be if the US decided to install Maduro's vice president as president? Would you find that acceptable? It seems to me that a loyal member of his party should be an unacceptable choice.

I would be opposed to maduro's vice president but I am predicting that she will be installed as leader.

It should probably be Gonzalez or a new election should be held. Perhaps Carina could run.

I don't deal in if"s - I only deal in reality. I leave the guessing to others.

I think the Venezuelan Constitution would put the vice President in charge when the president is no longer able to perform duties but also requires that an election be held shortly thereafter. Hopefully the people of Venezuela are able to elect the leader they want. President Carina perhaps.

Trump? He's probably looking to find another country to screw up after he's term-limited in the US.

Newsflash - Venezeula hasnt honored an election since Chavez took control decades ago.

So its just a small matter of us seizing control of the government and oversseing the election with our troops.   Kinda like we did in Iraq.

Dont worry - the oil revenues will pay for it.

For all intents and purposes, Trump will be the president of Venezuela. Or perhaps "king" or maybe "Fuhrer" would be more accurate.

Trump has announced that he'll pick whatever puppet will be the most compliant and agreeable to the looting of their country. The Venezuelan people will have no say whatsoever. Trump has already said that there would be elections when he decides there should be. Which means never.

At least the people are used to being ruled by a corrupt fascist asshole. The only real difference between Trump and Maduro is that Trump is fatter. New boss, same as the old boss.

Prediction: just like Hitler did in Poland, France, etc., Trump will paint the looting of Venezuela as just compensation for the expense of "liberating" them. War reparations, or some such tommyrot.

Those Americans who are nostalgic for the war on and occupation of Iraq are in for a real treat. If Trump is careless and cruel about raping their country, we might have another Vietnam.

While of course we're seeing Millerscum and stupid Tom and Boilerboob dancing and flapping their arms, MAGA media is being strangely silent on this one. Maybe they remember Trump's promise that we wouldn't engage in foreign wars?

Every ceo of every US oil company has weighed in saying they arent the least bit interested in reviving Venezeula's junk oil infrastructure.     Congress (even Republicans) are not going to bless troops on the ground in Venezeula.

So my new prediciton is Trump does a W Bush imitation and declares "Mission Accomplished".

And all we are left with is the same Venezeuala we have now.....coupled with a precedent that greenlights China to invade Taiwan and Russia to assassinate Zelensky

Well, he's trying to become a term-unlimited emperor, and there's a good chance that either TrumpSCOTUS or an armed government takeover will accomplish that for him.

As a preliminary, he'll try to cancel or invalidate the results of every 2026 election a Democrat wins. Particularly, a drooling, compliant House will facilitate his planned ascension to Fuhrer.

We might see an event like the Reichstag fire that he can blame on Democrats or Biden. Maybe a Bidenquake in California.
