Who Will Win Today's NFL Playoff Games?

Humans are bound to make errors from time to time.   I like the Sh!t Happens reference.

Interesting game, 7-7 @ halftime. I expect to see the Pats pull away the second half as they have seen what Denver has to offer as far as their offense goes.

First the games are always officiated correctly.  They may not get every call correct much like a qb doesn't complete every pass.

I would like to see Denver win but they have a big challenge

I am leaning towards LA

So, the games are always officiated correctly...but sometimes they're not?

What constitutes "correctly"? 100% of the time? 90%? 50%?

I think we can all agree that all we can hope for is that the error percentage, whatever it may be, stays constant. No favoritism to the home or away team. No type of call that a given ref makes more or less often than others.

But that isn't the case. Refs overall do favor the home team, particularly in the playoffs. Some refs will call holding, pass interference, etc. more than others. I strongly suspect that coaches are aware of these tendencies and adjust their offenses and defenses accordingly.

Why would officials favor the home team?

Seattle - Rams - a heck of a game. Seattle favored in Super Bowl.

Because they're human. People, even professionals who are supposed to be 100% objective, will tend to do things/make decisions that make tens of thousands cheer more readily than things/decisions that make tens of thousands boo.

Maybe half of all referee decisions are clear-cut and unequivocal. The rest have some element of subjectivity to them. Two referees could call a play completely differently (like holding/no holding) and they could both be "right."

Particularly late in pivotal games, I've seen WAY too many of these either-or decisions go in favor of the home team.

I guess I have to support the Seahawks under the transplanted New Yorkers never root for Boston rule

As usual no proof to that statement.  Now explain to us how women can play in the MLB & the NBA

No Tom.  Do not get him going on that one again.

Next year I'm going to post my picks every week.  That way people can make some $ on them, cheer them on, rip me for them, make fun of them, whatever they like.  We will track my record over the season.  I won't take anything personal as I can make fun of my own picks as good as anyone.

Guess I'm rooting for Seattle.    It's more me wanting the Patriots to lose than the Seahawks to win.
this will be one of those Superbowls where I'm more interested in the commercials than the game.

It's going to be pretty bad for ESPN or whoever's broadcasting the game because the Seahawks have zero fans outside the Pacific Northwest and the Patriots are strictly a regional team as well.
