Ultimately, the side that is most bothered by all this will have to give in. So which side is that?

 

The Republicans as well as Trump have danced in joy at the prospect of starving to death the people who didn't vote for him. Of course, a few million who DID vote for him will die as well, but hey, collateral damage.

 

Ordinary citizens want to visit their relatives on Thanksgiving. MAGA doesn't care, because they'll be flying private jets.

 

The Republican fat cats don't need government services--their pockets are already routinely stuffed to overflowing, and that won't stop, no matter what.

 

So the shutdown is causing ordinary Americans considerable pain, and MAGA not at all.

 

Democrats are distressed by that pain.

 

MAGA is rejoicing in it.

 

Therefore, the Democrats are more motivated to end the shutdown, and they will ultimately choose that path to try to end Americans' suffering.

 

They should allow health care costs to skyrocket in order to use that as a core issue in the coming elections. They should also hammer away at Trump's evil plan to kill SNAP. Their core 2026 strategy should be how much worse Trump has made the average citizen's life.
