1- Convicted illegal criminals are deported; a hearing is then held with the illegal allowed a lawyer
2- The problems in the streets are due to cities not allowing ICE into the prisons/courts to arrest.
2- Illegals that have final orders of deportation are deported. In order to get a final order the case has to go to immigration court (which are legal). The illegal immigrant can bring a lawyer & the case can be appealed. If the illegal doesn't show up for the hearing a final order can be issued.
4- Nobody can be deported unless the above procedure is followed.
That's how it's SUPPOSED to work. But thousands of suspected immigration violators have been swept up, detained without habeas corpus, not given due process, and thrown out of the country without ever appearing before a judge. Thousands of people here perfectly legally are being grabbed and dragged away.

People who are here perfectly legally also flee from ICE, because they know that they can be assaulted, dragged away, imprisoned, and tossed out of the country, all without due process.
Even if they are able to eventually prove their legal residency, they'll still have been beaten up and will have spent several days in jail.

Could you please clarify what you mean in step one? It sounds like you are saying a deportation comes first then a hearing is held. Did you mean to say the word detained?
Not everyone accused of immigration crimes receives a hearing in front of an immigration judge. They have been using a fast track system more and more that allows an officer to make the decision instead of a judge and where no lawyer is allowed.
I just feel like immigration crime should be treated like any other crime. The same due process rules should apply to all alleged criminal activity.

I find it utterly disgusting that none of these ICE thugs ever face prosecution for their brutal, illegal, and unlawful acts. But I do have a question. Of course, Trump has given carte blanche as well as total legal immunity to his thugs. But can't the states prosecute them? Why haven't they?
Also...can't ICE as well as the individual thugs be sued in civil court for damages regarding violations of civil rights? Why hasn't that happened?

Don't forget that MAGA genuinely thinks that ILLEGULS are subhuman and don't have any civil rights. Look at David's and Tom's posts in the MLK thread for some disgusting examples.
"Illegals" have the same civil rights as anyone else; therefore, the extrajudicial arrests, detentions, and deportations are ipso facto illegal. And anyone outraged by the presence of "illegals" should be equally outraged by such illegalities.
