Will they ever do their job?

The DemocRats have held control of Congress, led by hand waver Nancy, for what seems like forever and have yet to do their job. These elected leeches have literally done nothing for Americans and America except stand around the water coolers scheming to impeach. Meanwhile they continue to draw an unearned salary. Why is this tolerated? They are literally a bunch of rats led by Pelosi and Schumer. Each and every one of these freeloading empty suits should be removed from their positions and replaced with REAL Americans who put America first. I find it sickening to know that they care about only theirselves -and are allowed to continue to do nothing.

Please....

"Literally" done nothing? Or done nothing that Stalker approves of? Hint for Stalker: don't use "literally" for emphasis. It just makes you look like a fool.

They're doing their job right now--performing their constitutional duty to remove a corrupt criminal from office. We're well aware that Stalker doesn't like that, because he supports that criminal.

And they "care only about theirselves"...? Every day, Stalker highlights his lack of a grade school education.

I was hoping for an intelligent reply or two - apparently that was too much to ask from this group

Your hyperpartisan ravings don't merit any replies at all. Look, we get that you're eyes-bugged-out angry that your golden god is finally meeting some form of justice. What are we supposed to say--"there, there"?

An intelligent thread would get intelligent replies. This is not an intelligent thread.

David Miller, you know that this board isn't known for intelligent, respectful discourse.  Well, crafted pieces, especially those that pose a twist or difference of opinion are overwhelmed by nasty, repititous counterpoint rhetoric.

Impeachment hearings past and present consist of thumb-up-the-butt posturing (lovely image) while other important work on behalf of constituents languishes.   Lots of background noise, statements we read about in our newspapers yesterday or a week ago.  Americans know that presidential impeachments convict the guy of something (they must, right?), but rarely (if ever?) remove from office.

Democrats will soon find themselves in the same place tomorrow that Republicans did around 20 years ago...useless, not the party they signed on for, not worth their time or money.  JMHO.

You're right, Trump wont get removed from office.    But if you think the people believe cheating at our elections is a "no-biggie" then I suggest you refer to the last president that was (almost) impeached for that same offense and his legacy in the wake of that.

The public didn't care that Bill Clinton lied about his sexual escapades in the White House.   It didn't really hurt anybody.   Cheating at our elections undermines our democracy.   And if Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Mitch MCConnell give it a pass because of tribal loyalty then so be it.   The public wont.

The facts are coming out.    Thats all I ask for.    But it sure is upsetting to some, isn't it?

Candy said, "Democrats will soon find themselves in the same place tomorrow that Republicans did around 20 years ago...useless, not the party they signed on for, not worth their time or money.  JMHO."

Candy, I think you will find out how wrong you are in 2020. Trump isn't being impeached over a trivial matter. He is being impeached for misconduct while in office using the powers of the office to commit high crimes. The Impeachment clause was specifically designed to deal with this type of misconduct.

It is simple. Trump illegally bribed and coerced Ukraine to publically announce they were opening an investigation into the Bidens. This is election rigging. If you don't impeach and remove a President for a crime of this nature, you render the Impeachment clause null and void because I can't imagine any worse conduct that a President could commit abusing his powers while in office.

A Federal Judge named Trump as an unindicted felony co-conspirator in the porn star payoff scheme.  There was evidence Trump committed 10 counts of Obstruction of Justice according to the Mueller report.

All three of these incidents involve rigging the outcome of his own election. He got a free pass for the first two. How many free passes should he get? Does anybody honestly believe he won't try to cheat again?

Don't get me wrong I know the Fox News crowd loves listening to Republican Congressmen defending Trump with nutty conspiracy theories and personal attacks. The problem for Republicans is nearly 100% of Democrats and Independents see this for what it is and are horrified by this behavior.

You can already see how this played out in Virginia and Kentucky with a record turnout of people coming to vote against Trump even though he wasn't on the ballot.

Honestly, I can't see how any intelligent person can look at the facts in this case and can conclude Trump did nothing wrong.

Candy, your misinterpetation of the situation underscores why the impeachment proceeding is necessary. An impeachment proceeding is NOT to convict anyone of anything--it is to remove someone from office. Period. Trump may suffer consequences afterward, but that won't be from the impeachment process.

Also, Candy, you have to understand that virtually all "important work on the behalf of constituents" is, these days, either blocked by the Senate or vetoed by Trump. The House can't make meaningful progress on its own. Therefore, impeachment isn't taking time or resources away from anything else. The House passes a bill and then Moscow Mitch craps on it and won't even bring it to the Senate floor. So why bother?

I think you're dead wrong about the future of the Democratic party. The Republican party is currently the party of nasty old racist white guys--and those people are dying off. What they fear most actually will come to pass--the country will not be run exclusively by white people or rich people. As Democrats gradually reclaim power, the utter falsity of the Republican narrative will be even more exposed. The people will realize that Republican oligarchs have worked solely to line their pockets and never gave two shits about the welfare of the common man. Then the Republican party will go the way of the Whig party.
