Worldwide Coronavirus Tracking

Trump deserves no credit for the Obama economy. It "roars on" (which is in itself debatable) DESPITE Trump, not because of him--regardless of what your quasi-religious faith in him might suggest. And Trump "cut" quite a few existing trade deals, true. Reneging on agreements is something he does very well.

He also is dealing with the coronavirus problem by pretending it doesn't exist. There's no evidence to suggest he will do a "fine job" with this or any other issue; he hasn't handled a single issue competently since he took office. He's tried threatening the coronavirus, tweeting about it, calling it names, and insulting it. He's also fired some officials. He's used up all his normal tricks. 

Remember last week when Kevin said the virus was no big deal. 

And who is better at producing vaccines 

It is no big deal, comparatively:

US deaths so far in 2020 from the flu: 4,800

From the coronavirus: 0

The latter number may skyrocket to, say, 2. While the former number increases to 10,000 in the same time frame.

We now have 86 verified cases in the US and two people have died. The CDC says as of Friday only 500 people have been tested in the entire United States. The scope of the Trump administration's incompetence is mind-boggling. I suspect there are thousands of cases in the U.S. right now. Part of me wonders if Trump intentionally decided not to get any more test kits so the market wouldn't be affected.  

Our governmental response has been worse than any other besides Iran. Remember that the next time conservatives claim the US has the best healthcare system in the world. Remind them we don't even measure up to third-world shithole (as Trump would say) countries. 

The only, the sole thing that Trump cares about is that his signature bigly "accomplishment," the performance of the stock market, is imploding. Yesterday, he bugged the Fed to come up with a stimulus package that would slow down the market crash. Not the CDC or his servants in the Senate to come up with some way to slow down the progress of the coronavirus. He doesn't give a shit about people dying (unless, maybe, they're part of his "base"). 

I can barely fathom the continuing loyalty of Trumpers for this scumbag asshole. They keep on making excuses for his awful behavior and criminal incompetence. It would be poetic justice if only Trumpers died from the coronavirus, but unfortunately, decent human beings will also die.

The silver lining, if there is one, is that this whole mess will provide that much more impetus and support for universal health care. I wonder how many people aren't getting tested because they can't afford a doctor visit or couldn't afford a hospital stay. I also wonder if Trump will eventually control the vaccine distribution process so that you only get it if you pay him $500.

100 "confirmed" cases in the US with 6 dead. US mortality rate 6%. We are officially living in a third-world shithole. 

Though as many as 80% of those infected show few or no symptoms--so the number infected is much higher.

An official in New York City said they had been "pleading" for test kits but the CDC had not sent them. Apparently, the CDC made no efforts to ramp up production of the kits until a few days ago. NYC is resorting to making their own---but it's unlikely they'll be able to produce enough in time.

Trump has repeatedly cut CDC funding and his 2021 budget slashes it by a further 33%. These are the consequences of allowing an idiot to mess with institutions that benefit the public--just so he could present bigly tax cuts to billionaires and huge corporations. Trump's assholery is now costing lives.

I'm sure our Trumpers are still cheering for the Orange Asshole, though.
