Yet another special election - this time for Congress - flips from the GOP to the Democrats.

You know what they say; the only poll that matters is on election day.

And including all of the special elections and abortion referendums from last year, do you know what they call this? A Blue Wave.

It comes down to: which party is genuinely trying to make Americans' lives better, and which party is trying to get people all ginned up about idiotic culture wars, the horror of the existence of trangender people, the supposed billions of filthy brown people "invading" the US, the Abortion Police, etc. etc.? One party focuses on solutions to problems; another tries to make those problems worse in order to maximize fear, which is their sole tool.

I think the impact of the Republicans' latest foolishness is a LOT greater than polls and the news media indicate. Swing voters are looking at how the Republican party seeks to destroy, not create--constantly threatening to shut down the government, pretending to cooperate with the Democrats and then weaseling on the deal, focusing on taking away people's rights--and of course, their continuing adulation for a traitorous rapist and con man.

This isn't just going to be a blue wave; it's going to be a blue massacre.

The Republican border crisis weighed heavily on voters minds.  You have to love the stupidity of the MAGAs.

Conservative politicians and the conservative media spend two years manufacturing a border crisis harping on it day after day so people believe it is a big issue. They have their team negotiate a border bill that ends up favoring their solutions.  Republicans finally have an accomplishment to promote in the next election.

Then a giant orange shit bird swoops in and drops a steaming shit filled diaper on their bill because he is afraid it will make Biden look good.  Now it is the Republican border crisis and as shown by this race a proven winning issue for Democrats.

Two years ago the Republican won by 8%. This time, the Democrat won by 8%.

That's a 16% swing! What oh what could ever have caused such a thing?

This was like an "own goal" in soccer. All the RepubliQ had to do was accept the border bill while simultaneously bitching about what it didn't do (Kill All Migrants!), and the issue would have stayed on the other side (blame Democrats for all them feelthy Messkins starting up taco trucks and TAKIN' ALL OUR JOBZ). Now, though, Democrats can blame Republicans for the problems ("crisis") on the border!

A certain number of former MAGAs (aka "swing voters") who care passionately about the border "crisis" (as in, those who absolutely loathe brown people and fantasize about killing them) will now be blaming their own gang for it. Will they vote for Democrats? Maybe not. But they might stay home rather than voting MAGA--which would still be a win for Democrats.

Turns out that endlessly bitching about an issue, then weaseling away when given the opportunity to deal with it, has consequences! Who knew?

This is actually a democrat district that flipped in 2022.  There was a snowstorm in NY yesterday & that affected turnout.  Schools were closed & they are used as polling stations.  Lots of confusion as to whether these polling stations were open.  The democrat specilaty (mail in votes) was very high
