So we should risk criminal prosecution for tax evasion just because you hate Trump? You're orbiting Pluto again.

Please let us know how that turns out Kevin. Wife and I have already filed and got a nice refund, so we're good for this year.
If you work for a living you dont have a choice. Taxes get taken out of your check every pay period. If you are a trust fund brat on a sailboat....then you get to make the choice of whether or not you want to roll the dice with an audit. Right now thats about 1%. Lots of trust fund brats have weighed in and said they like those odds.
THe IRS has stated they already have received record chatter online from people saying they dont intend to file returns this year.
I've always considered it my patriotic duty to pay taxes. Thats giving back to the country that gave me the opportunity to succeed in my own endeavors. Thats true regardless if I like the current president or not.
Its sad that some people dont pay their taxes. its even more sad that the government only enforces them against lower income people. Trust fund brats get to live above the law.....and for some reason all those low-income morons with their MAGA hats seem to be ok with that. Go figure.

Nope. Not because "I" hate Trump. Because the United States government as we knew it has been terminated, perhaps permanently.
Nines, why do we pay our taxes? To finance government services and benefits. The Turd team is destroying those services and benefits. So why the fuck should we pay for them? They're violating the contract.
In fact, in the extremely unlikely event that I'm ever required to appear in court for this, that will be my affirmative defense. Trump has breached the contract between the US government and its people--you pay taxes, you get this and this. Take this and this away and what justification does the government have to force us to keep on paying for it anyway?
So, Nines, no need for you to think simplistically. I paid my taxes during the Turd's first term, because he only minimally disrupted government operations and services--even though I definitely did hate him then, as now. I'm recommending that you all don't be sheep and meekly pony up your tax money, when you know it's going in Elon's pocket, not going to repair bridges or pay for Grandma's Social Security check or finance flu prevention by the CDC.

I doubt that anything will happen for a couple of years, given that the Turd and Elon have stripped the IRS of funding and staffing so that their cheating on their taxes wouldn't be uncovered.
That's what frosts my ass. The Turd makes tens of millions every year and pays no taxes. Why the fuck should we?

As I said elsewhere, I consider the handing of unlimited power to an unelected non-American and his destruction of the government services that my taxes are supposed to pay for a gross breach of contract, and I'm therefore no longer obligated to honor said contract.
A wage earner can avoid withholding. They can write EXEMPT in the deductions box of their W-4. There's no penalty for doing that, even if you do actually owe taxes--your liability doesn't begin until the beginning of the next year. The practical reason you're allowed to do that is that if you didn't start working until, say, June, you wouldn't have any tax liability for some time, so the withholding schedules would be inaccurate. Me, I put EXEMPT because I only planned to pay my taxes if we didn't get another Turd administration, because I felt that Project 2025, the plan to destroy our government, was a genuine blueprint that the Turd intended to follow. I was right.
I'll be more than happy to pay my taxes, as I have done for over 50 years, if and when our government resumes honoring the contract to provide services and benefits in return. Until then--fuck, no.
The problem is you will be subject to underpayment penalties and interest. And most of that is triggered by technology and not people (IRS workers). It's bad advice but I think Kevin is more just trying to make a statement here, rather than actually recommending people to do this.

Which specific government services and benefits have YOU specifically missed out on at this point to make you intend to not pay and encourage all of us not to pay our taxes? Mental health treatments?

Har har. We all are going to "specifically miss out" on any government agency interactions that used to be relatively quick and easy but will now take hours, or even days or weeks. We'll miss out on flu and other disease prevention programs. We'll miss out on accurate weather predictions. We'll miss out on pollution prevention and control.
And yes, we'll miss out on the reduced Social Security payments, diminished Medicare services, and diminished disability and unemployment insurance payments. It's all in Project 2025, and it's all happening right now.
But go ahead and pay pay pay, like a good little sheep, if you so desire! You can gaze rapturously into the evening sky and see your tax dollars at work--Elon's luxury liner to the moon will be quite a sight.

My recommendation is serious. ElonTurd is basically trying to starve the government to death, so they can BE the government. We can't stop that, but why should we pay for it?
Imagine you're trying to collect Social Security benefits for the first time...and you find that you can't apply online or by phone. You have to fill out physical paperwork and stand in line...but oops, your local office is closed, so you drive 40 miles to the next one, and stand in line for four hours, but they shut down before you can see anyone...
Or you can no longer find a provider near you that accepts new Medicare patients...
Or you commute to work over a bridge that was being repaired but the funding has been stopped because it was part of Biden's infrastructure bill, so there's a traffic jam each way, each and every day...
You still wanna pay your taxes?
