Gambling update

I haven't posted anything in a few weeks, because of the shame and embarrassment of going on tilt and losing more money than a reasonable person would do. One experience was playing Mississippi Stud at the River Spirit in Tulsa. An automatic shuffler is used that I'm vey suspect of. It got to a point I continued to play out of frustration to see If could win a hand. It was a horrible evening. My loss was $1,400. This is a game that I personally will never play again. I had left The Downstream Casino a few weeks back returning home. I was $2,000 winner. I stopped off at a casino in Miami to get a cup of coffee and take a piss. This casino has a huge advertising campaign, proclaiming the loosest slots (false) the most liberal BJ rules, ( which they actually do). I played one hand of UTH and lost $120. by god I was going to get that money back. I left 6 hours later, $3,600 lighter in the money clip. Returning to the casino that treats me the best with the best comps, free play food, rooms and free tournaments. the Downstream near Joplin. I had several sessions where I won decent amounts playing 7 card Pai Gow, no commission. This week the Righteous Brothers were performing at the Miami casino. My wife had me get tickets, she is a fan. We're staying and gambling at Downstream. Time to head from Downstream to Miami. I'm going begrudgingly, not a fan. Being the dutiful husband, put on a brave face and pretend to be excited. Knowing the whole time I would be bored and counting the seconds till it was over. thinking about gambling and Pai Gow the entire time. Surprising the evening was very enjoyable. Bill Melody is very personable, authentic, real conversations was spewed forth from the stage with humor and levity. gut laughter was common the singing was superb with Gospel, rock, Blues and even an Italian opera sang in Italian. very entertaining, He'll be at Harrah's in Vegas starting in Sept. playing Tues thru Thursday Wife got an autograph and a hug from Bill Melody and we headed north to Joplin 15 miles away. Bad bad storms blowing up. Wind lightning so ferocious, slot machines going dark in the casino. That is in Miami. drive thru some terrifying wind to get back to Downstream. Finished up the evening playing Pai Gow and winning $1,200. Wife had a spa treatment the next day. While she is getting beautified I'm gambling, Playing 2 hands $130 per hand, On one of the hands I get trip 9's twice in a row. The dealer, a woman, tells me this next hand you will get the fourth 9. Lo and Behold Quad 9's on the next hand. I finish up that morning $800!
Downstream, by far, is the nicest casino in our region. My wife only play Video Poker and used to play at Downstream exclusively. However, they removed the banks of full pay quarters. Now the only playable VP are the progressives once they reach $1500 or so. We moved to Highwinds a few years back just because of the liberal comps and great steakhouse. We've been hopping around as of late, but will probably start focusing back on one place. I've heard tons of people complain about Buffalo Runs slot, but don't play them. However, they have changed ALL video poker pay schedules to FULL PAY. I didn't believe it at first, but have checked all machines. Crazy. Their comps suck in my opinion, but if playing VP to win probably best place in region. The new casino that just opened in Kansas by the state sucks big time. Nice place but manager running is an idiot. He worked for the one near Wichita and it nearly went under until Boyd's took it over....hoping the take this one over too.
Robert, you are correct, Buffalo does have full pay VP. I have not been to the Kansas Crossing Casino in Pittsburgh yet. I understand they have real Craps and roulette. I'm 90 miles away from Downstream and they get the majority of my time and play. There are closer casinos, but none treat me as good as Downstream.
Yes, DS has been more generous with the comped rooms as of late. I assumed because of Kansas Crossing opening. Crossing is not Native American owned so they do have all of the Class III gaming w/ Craps and Roulette. Most of the local folks around here are used to the Native American casinos based on bingo cards with the "red screen" bonuses...so there has been a lot of complains about Crossings games...probably not much difference in pay outs, but people around here are just used to them.
