A first for me, I stayed at a casino and did not make one wager. Wednesday, Wife and I checked into the River Spirit in Tulsa. Had a comped room and a meal for two. We went straight to the Pool and stayed until the Pool closed at 9 PM. While in the Pool I became fixated on the architectural design of the Hotel and how well it tied into the casino structure and the use of reflective glass to offer a multi dimensional perspective that changed every time I looked at it. It was very beautiful and genius in the design. Did I tell you I had recently traveled to Colorado. We ate on a comped meal, returned to the room and retired for the evening.
Returning to Bartlesville the next morning. I pack my backpack and jump on my motorcycle and head toward Joplin. I arrive with $3,200 gambling bankroll. I check into my room at 2 PM. go straight to Pool and swim until after 4 PM. I have $175 in free play. I head to VIP lounge to see what food offerings they have. Planning to go to Buffet I change my mind and eat Brisket and stuffed Jalapenos in the VIP lounge. I go to the Pai Gow table and buy in for $500. There is only one seat open. I normally play two hands. I bet $100 on the main bet, $20 on insurance and $10 on the bonus. I lose the $500 in short amount of time. I move to 3 card poker Where I buy in for another $500 I end up losing $75 after playing 1/2 hour. On 3 card I play blind with all the carnival bets covered. I risking $55 per hand. Back to Pai Gow where I buy in for another $1,000. Playing two hands I'm risking $230 every time the cards are dealt. I hit a rough patch and before I know it I'm down $2,000. It's one of those times when every cell in your body is screaming, walk away, take a break. I leave the table to play my free play, where I cash out a $120 win. Returning to the Pai Gow table I lose another $700. I go to Cashier and get another $2,000. I play some 100 play VP to take a break from Pai Gow. I return to Pai Gow. My luck has changed for the better and I win $600 to end the night with a $2,100 net loss.
The next morning I wake at 6:45. I drink two cups of coffee before leaving the room. Pai Gow table is closed, I ask Pit Boss if they have enough dealers to open it. They open the table and I buy in for $1,000. Playing two hands I play until 11 AM. I leave to eat a Buffet. I'm up $400 for the session. I checkout of my room at 12 noon. Go back to Pai Gow and win another $300. I head out to my motorcycle with a net loss this trip of $1,400. It's a 90 mile ride home and I immediately deposit $2,000 into the checking account to return the $2 grand I took from the cashier cage, to soothe my wife who is becoming more disgruntled with my gambling losses. I communicated to the casino manager about my displeasure with the marketing dept. and their stiffing me on my bounce back free play. He talks with Marketing. and they say I should be receiving all the free play I'm allotted. When I check the mail box today there is a $250 free play bounce back coupon. I text my host and the casino manager to tell them the good news, feeling a little guilty for raising a stink on what I thought was less than justified perks. The Downstream casino treats me as well or better than any other casino, including the ones in Vegas.
