Headed to the Buffet, Prime Rib night. Walking by the Pai Gow table, wife say's, "Look, at that, Does that not tell you something?". I say, "what? ' She says, "The table is empty and the reason why is because PAI GOW SUCKS". She is not a fan because of my recent losses.
We eat, go to the VIP lounge, She gets a Kahlua and crème. It's one hour before the outdoor concert. We go to the empty Pai Gow table, We both buy in for $500 each. After 30 minutes we're down $400, cash out for $600. She goes on into the concert, I go to take my Colorado concert enhancement medicine. After wandering aimlessly, seems like hours, she grabs me and takes me to our seats. My host had gotten me 4 tickets, and two of our kids were supposed to meet us, who did not show. I gave the seats to an elderly couple who seem to be wandering aimlessly.
REO Speedwagon was good, crowd was enthusiastic. The most surreal thing was this old man on the stage with a ton of energy, going non stop for the entire concert. The lead singer, rhythm guitarist is 65 years old, I'm 68. These people could retire, they don't need the money, it's evident they do it because they love what they do.

I'm playing one hand because now the table is full. playing my usual pattern $100 center bet, $20 on insurance and $10 on Bonus, for $130 per hand. I'm losing, , a couple of hours in, I'm $2,000 invested. A good friend is playing with me, his wife, who has the same bias against Pai Gow as my wife, is steadily chewing his ass. She is standing next to me and is also chastising me for playing Pai Gow. "You and my husband are stupid for playing this game". She Looking at my hands, "Look at those shitty cards", " They should change the name from Pai Gow to Shitty cards" He loses all of his money and they leave.
I'm down $2,000 and I promise my self If I lose $500 more I'm walking. I hit a 10 high worth $500, next hand I hit Jack high for $375. I play a few more hands, I cash out with $1,100 in chips. It's 2:30 am. I play $80 in free play in the slots winning another $400. My net loss for the night is $500. We return home the next morning.
