1 day of casinos off strip

First time to Vegas with a car and we have a day to spend going to the off strip casinos. Excluding downtown and the strip, which casinos should we go to. We enjoy looking at the sights and decor of a casino over gambling. When we gamble we play slots.
M Resort is a beautiful place and a surprise when I went (eat their buffet while there!)

Sam's Town is great for the beautiful and peaceful atrium (trees, animals, waterfall). Try to go there in the evening for the Laser-light-water show (it also runs in the daytime, but is not as spectacular). Best view is from the Ram's Head bar. Get a seat early, and order a ginger ale. Great video poker, but you have to know where to look. Tons of slots. Easy drive down Flamingo, or shuttle from Harrah's.

Station casinos are clean and pleasant; they make you want to live there. Excellent machines. Also great video poker. Our choices are (1) Green Valley Ranch, (2) Red Rock, (3) Sunset Station. Excellent buffets at all three.

Invitations are plentiful at all of the above if you give them some play. You will be hooked.

I'll put in a vote for Silverton and their aquarium. Try to time your visit for when they are feeding the fish.

I like all these suggestions, though I think Sam's Town is a step down from Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch, and M. For sights and decor, I'd rank them:

Red Rock
Green Valley Ranch
M
Silverton
Sam's Town
Orleans and Gold Coast both Boyd properties.

Good return for your gambling dollar

Enjoy your time off the "strip".

I agree.

I also agree with Chilcoot's ranking.
Additionally, I would recommend driving out to Red Rock and from there driving through Red Rock preserve which ends at Blue Diamond Road right near Silverton. Go into Silverton to check out their fish/shark tank and Bass Pro Shop and continue down I-15 to M. Check out M and then drive down St. Rose Pkwy to GVR. That would be an easy way to hit all of the places in one loop AND to see/drive thru the Red Rock Nature Preserve (about 1/2 hour drive).

I don't totally agree with Chilcoot's rankings as I'm a big fan of Sam's Town and the atrium is totally decorated in a christmas motiff.
bbking - the Wizard of Chilcoot will not be pleased.
