1 day of casinos off strip

The Christmas show at Sam's Town is highly entertaining -- especially when all the animals sing "Jingle Bells"... and the grizzly bear sings "Blue Christmas!" Fabulous production.

It was not meant in a negative way, just disagreeing.

Chilcoot seems to be the LVA resident punching bag. I for one am amazed that he hangs so tough with this crowd.

Ah, yes; the ever pleasant doc chimes in. I guess somebody peed in his cornflakes again this morning....

I think the Sams Town animatrons are so cheesy it embarrasses me to be around it. I'm actually amazed that some people actually think it's an 'attraction'. Sorry, just my opinion.

I'm a big fan of The Orleans.
It's has one of the largest casinos in Vegas.

On a single day, I would take this route:

Down Flamingo to Sam's Town; self-park behind the building

A little way back on Flamingo, then Hwy 95 to Sunset Station - have the buffet

Short hop down 95 again to Lake Mead Parkway, turn left, to Fiesta Henderson located on the right just after the underpass

Up Lake Mead Pkwy/215 to Green Valley Ranch - Park on the roof of the 215 garage, unless it is a very hot day. Even better buffet.

Then back to your hotel.

Next day:

Take one of the highways - or - take Flamingo or Charleston to Red Rock Hotel & casino - eat the buffet

A little further up Charleston is the Red rock area. There is a short drive and a long drive to see the Red Rocks.

The "M" Resort arguably has the best offers...if you join the players club you will start getting monthly mailers for free slot play and free buffets. Its also a beautiful, isolated property.

For something that is completely un-elegant but fun you can hit the Water Street casinos in downtown Henderson (El Dorado, Rainbow Club, The Emerald). They are small casinos all right next to each other in a cutsey little downtown area. You can stroll from one to the other while playing very low limits and then eat in one of their dirt-cheap diners. Lots of their slot machines still require you to play with a bucket of nickels instead of TITO. Its a fun way to spend a couple hours at lunch time.

The "M". While there, visit Baby Cakes and try some of their breads and sweets.
Drive through Red Rock Canyon as a tour and then as you exit the canyon hit the Red Rock Casino. I think the Red Rock is the nicest casino off the strip bar none! There buffet is also excellant
